
Air Force Takes Fourth at MPSF Championships

USAF ACADEMY, Colo. – The 11th-ranked Air Force men's gymnastics team capped its home schedule with a fourth-place score of 392.550 at the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Championships this evening (April 7) inside Cadet West Gym. As a team, the Falcons recorded 10 top-10 finishes against their conference opponents.
Highlighted by a pair of top-five finishes, junior Jonah Urlaub was the Falcons' top performer on three events. Urlaub posted a score of 13.700 to tie for fourth on the floor, while adding a fifth-place mark of 14.250 on the vault and a ninth-place score of 13.300 on the parallel bars.
Freshman Scott McMurray and senior Fletcher Braunton also accounted for top-five finishes on the night, as McMurray scored a 13.050 to pace Air Force on the pommel horse (fifth) and Braunton registered a 13.850 to earn the same team-leading placement on the still rings. Junior Lukas Texeira rounded out the Falcons' event leaders, as he tied for sixth on the high bar with a score of 14.000.
Classmate Christian Kalustian picked up top-10 marks on the vault (sixth, 14.200) and floor exercise (ninth, 13.600), while freshman Ethan Esval and senior Michael Graft tied for eighth on the still rings with matching scores of 13.750.
Top-ranked Oklahoma scored a 414.050 to win its seventh-straight conference title, while fourth-ranked Stanford (second, 404.150), No. 12 California (third, 393.650) and the 11th-ranked Falcons (fourth, 392.550) completed the conference standings. Individually, Oklahoma's Yul Moldauer won the floor exercise (14.600), pommel horse (14.150), rings (15.050) and parallel bars (14.950), while fellow Sooner Tanner Justus won the vault (14.850) and Cal's Yordan Aleksandrov took first on the high bar (14.400).
The 2018 gymnastics season comes to close on April 20-21 at the NCAA Championship in Chicago.
