Junior Campbell Harris tied his career high with five goals
U.S. AIR FORCE ACADEMY, Colo. – Loyola Marymount, ranked 11th in the nation, scored four unanswered goals late in the fourth quarter in a 16-14 win over Air Force in a Western Water Polo Association game, Saturday, Oct, 19, at the Cadet Natatorium.
Air Force (9-12, 0-2 WWPA) scored the first two goals of the game as Gavin Jones and Campbell Harris each scored. The Lions came back for a 3-2 lead, but Harris scored on a penalty shot at 1:40 and Luke Andres scored with 17 seconds left as the game was tied at 4-4 at the end of the first quarter.
Early in the second, Sam Fuller scored and Harris netted his third of the game as the Falcons had a 6-4 lead. LMU (8-8 overall and 3-1 WWPA) scored the next two to tie the game at 6-6 with 4:40 remaining. Luke Andres scored from Mike Miller with 1:34 left, but the Lions answered again to tie the game at 7-7 at the end of the half.
A pair of goals by Reagan Pittman early in the third gave the Falcons a 9-7 lead. After a goal by Mike Miller at 4:06 of the third, LMU scored three straight for an 11-10 lead after three. Harris scored two goals in the first 40 seconds of the fourth quarter and Grant Snyder added one for a 13-11 Falcon lead with 5:57 left in the fourth. The Lions then scored four straight, two by Jonny Rimlinger and two by Blazo Mitrovic, who had eight goals in the game, for a 15-13 Lion lead. Luke Andres scored with 15 seconds left and David Carrasco scored for LMU with one second remaining.
Air Force travels to California for a pair of conference games as the Falcons face UC San Diego on Oct. 25 and Concordia on Oct. 26.
