Air Force hosts RIT in Atlantic Hockey series

Falcons and Tigers meet Oct. 24-25, at Cadet Ice Arena
This Week: Air Force (0-4-0, 0-0-0 AHA) opens conference play against the RIT Tigers (3-1-0, 0-0-0 AHA), Thursday-Friday, Oct. 24-25, at Cadet Ice Arena. Faceoff is at 7:05 pm MT each night.

Conference Openers: In Atlantic Hockey openers, Air Force is 8-4-1. The Falcons have won three straight with wins at Canisius (18-19 and 17-18) and home vs. Bentley (16-17). The Falcons have split the last three conference-opening series.
Scouting RIT: RIT is 3-1-0 overall and opens AHA play this weekend. The Tigers own non-conference wins over Colgate, Bowling Green and Merrimack (last week). Senior Shawn Cameron leads the team with three goals. Both Cameron and senior defenseman Adam Brubacher (1-3-4) have four points. Junior Logan Drackett has played every minute in goal and has a .953 saves percentage and a 1.50 GAA. He ranks sixth in the nation in saves percentage and eighth in GAA.

The teams have not played at the Academy since 2017 when they split the series. AF has won four the last five at the Academy. At Air Force, AF leads the series 18-8-3.
Both Air Force and RIT joined Atlantic Hockey in 2006 and, since then, the teams have played 48 times. Air Force has won 28, RIT has won 17 and three have ended in a tie.
In the history of the series, 44 of the 57 games (77 percent) have been decided by two goals or less with 15 games going into overtime.
The teams have met six times in the playoffs, and each team has won three. RIT ended Air Force's season in 2014-15 and 2015-16. Prior to that, Air Force had beaten RIT three times in the playoffs, the 2008 semifinals and the 2011 and 2012 championship games. RIT and Air Force have combined to win 10 of the last 13 tournament titles. Air Force won it in 2007, 2008, 2009, 2011, 2012, 2017 and 2018. RIT won it in 2010, 2015 and 2016. Canisius won it 2013, Robert Morris won it in 2014 and AIC won it in 2019.
