
Women’s Gymnastics Cruises by Centenary in Dual Action

Air Force women’s gymnastics posted a 191.350 to win the dual meet, Friday evening
SHREVEPORT, La. - The women's gymnastics team defeated Centenary College, 191.350-191-050, in dual meet action, Friday evening in the Gold Dome at Centenary. Heidi Sand and Anna Salamone won first-place finishes in the vault and uneven parallel bars, respectively.
Sand and Salamone had a success evening on the vault, scoring 9.700 and 9.675 marks, respectively, to take the top-two finishes of the event. Air Force's vault score was 47.025 while Centenary posted a 46.325.
On the bars, Salamone posted a 9.825 for her third first-place finish in the event this season. Sophomore teammate Cam Barber tied Tavia Smith of Centenary for second place with 9.700 marks. It was Barber's highest score on the uneven bars this season. Tyler Davis finished in a nearby fourth-place, posting a personal season-high 9.675. Air Force finished with a 47.925 team score to Centenary's 47.850.
Centenary found their rhythm on the beam and in the floor exercises, posting winning marks in both events. Mariana Murphy led the Falcons on the beam with a personal season-high 9.775 and second-place tie. Daija Stevenson finished just behind her senior teammate, posting a 9.750 for a fourth-place finish in the event. Centenary combined for a 48.428 score while Air Force scored a 48.275.
In the floor exercise, Cameo Stapleton led the way as she posted a career-best 9.725 to finish tied for third. Teammates Brittney Reed and Natalie Meyer scored 9.650 each, tying for fifth in the event. At the final tally, Centenary outscored the Falcons, 48.450-48.125 in the floor exercise.
Air Force did not have a gymnast compete for the all-around score.
Up next, the Falcons travel to Denton, Texas, to compete in a quad-meet with Arizona and Centenary at Texas Woman's University, Sunday March 3, at Kitty Magee Arena. Action is slated to begin at 2 p.m. CT.
