
Falcons Claim 11 Wins in Boulder on Saturday

Terrell Davis, Mikayla Gallagher and Sydney Hansen all impacted the Academy's all-time standings.
BOULDER, Colo. – The Air Force track and field team made three additions to the program's all-time standings and collected 11 event titles this afternoon (March 16), as it wrapped up action at the outdoor-opening Jerry Quiller Classic under brisk conditions in Boulder.
Junior Terrell Bradford, as well as freshmen Mikayla Gallagher and Sydney Hansen, impacted the program's top-10 standings during their first meet of the 2019 outdoor season. Bradford easily won the 200-meter dash, as he posted a career-best time of 21.23 to debut in sixth on the program's all-time list, while Gallagher and Hansen posted the ninth-fastest times in the 3000-meter run (10:03.82, adjusted for altitude) and steeplechase (11:48.27a), respectively. Hansen, whose actual time of 12:07.99 would also have impacted the Academy's top 10, edged classmate Sarah Deresky in an all-Air Force steeplechase, as Deresky posted the 11th-fastest mark in program history at 11:53.33a.
Bradford paced the men to a dominant finish in the 200-meter event, as he, senior Sedacy Walden (career-best 21.57), sophomore Zachary Dicken (career-best 21.64), senior Reece Pontious (career-best 21.64), sophomore Luke Zuluaga (career-best 22.54), junior Terrell Davis (career-best 22.71) and freshman Carter Kuehl (debut 22.73) swept the top-seven spots of the 15-runner race.
Kuehl picked up a first-place finish in the 100-meter dash, as he recorded a debut time of 11.28 to win the event by 0.22 seconds, while Dicken, Walden, Davis and Zuluaga combined for a winning time of 3:15.62 in the 4x400-meter dash. Freshman Matt Zacharias won his first 3000-meter steeplechase (10:14.24), while seniors Garrett Coalson and Logan Feasline earned first-place marks in the shot put (47'11¼") and discus throw (168'8"), respectively.
Feasline paced the Falcons to the top-three spots in the 15-thrower discus event, as Coalson added a runner-up distance of 158'8" and freshman Jarod Pankau posted a debut distance of 156'7" to win his flight and take third overall. The men also accounted for a 1-2 finish in the steeplechase, as freshman Chris Floyd recorded a debut time of 10:19.36 to take second.
Sophomores Aric Kedge and Scott Johnson were the top collegiate finishers in their respective events, as Kedge finished second overall in his 800-meter debut (1:55.84) and Johnson posted a time of 4:01.79 to finish fourth in the overall field of 28 at the 1500-meter distance.
The men claimed two of the top-three spots in the high jump, as freshman Jake Hall and sophomore Addison Brown finished second (debut 6'4¾") and third (6'2¾"), respectively. Freshman La'akea Aiu earned a runner-up finish in his first 400-meter hurdles (56.99), while classmate Wyatt Murphy accounted for the same placement in his first outdoor long jump (21'2¾").
Sophomore Mahala Norris and junior Ashley Cameron collected additional first-place marks for the women, as Norris posted a time of 4:37.11 to finish first out of 20 runners in the 1500-meter event and Cameron clocked a time of 13.29 to take first in the 100-meter dash.
The women accounted for multiple top-three finishes in three events, including a 2-3-4 finish in the 400-meter dash from freshmen Brid O'Connell (1:00.65), Grace Proesch (1:02.34) and Queen Dais (1:02.51). Sophomore Kathleen Medill posted a career-best clearance of 5'5" to finish second in the high jump, while freshmen Kendra Middleton and Ari Martinez tied for third with matching outdoor debuts of 5'3". Junior Sierra Rodriguez and Donna Borer added top-three finishes in their first discus throw of the season, as Rodriguez finished second (137'11") and Borer took third (133'2").
Sophomore Addyson Smith earned a runner-up finish in the shot put (38'9¾"), while senior Aryn Maxwell rounded out the Falcons' top-three track finishers, as she posted a career-best time of 25.63 to finish third in the 200-meter dash.
The pole vault competition was an all-Air Force affair this afternoon at Potts Field. Senior Kathryn Tomczak and sophomore Mitch Lipe claimed first-place finishes in their respective events, as Tomczak posted a clearance of 12'5½" to win the women's event and Lipe, one of three Falcons to clear the bar at 15'7", won the men's title based on attempts.
Air Force returns to action on March 22-23, when it heads to San Diego for the Aztec Invitational.
