Falcons Head to California for Aztec Invitational

Air Force will compete in San Diego State's two-day meet, beginning on Friday, March 22.
The majority of the Air Force track and field team heads to San Diego, Calif., this weekend to begin its spring break training trip at the 41st-annual Aztec Invitational. The two-day meet, which begins for the Falcons on Friday, March 22, will be held primarily at the Aztec Sports Deck on the campus of San Diego State.
MEET INFORMATION
While the majority of the Aztec Invitational, which is slated to feature over 3000 athletes from more than 90 schools and clubs, will take place at San Diego State, the hammer and javelin will be contested on the campus of UC San Diego. General admission for events at the Sports Deck is $5 and parking is located directly under the track. Live stats will be available through FinishedResults.com.

The collegiate lineup for the Aztec Invitational includes Division I teams from Air Force, Arizona (No. 15 men), BYU (No. 5 men), Grand Canyon, Kansas State (No. 17 women), Loyola Marymount, Nevada, Oregon (No. 7 men, No. 5 women), San Diego, San Diego State, UCLA (No. 17 men, No. 22 women), UC Santa Barbara, Utah and Wisconsin (No. 14 men). The overall field will also include numerous non-DI schools, as well as Paralympians and members of the Qatar and Chinese national teams.

BRADFORD NAMED MOUNTAIN WEST ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
After posting the sixth-fastest 200-meter time in program history (21.23) at the Jerry Quiller Classic, Terrell Bradford was selected as the Mountain West Men's Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week on March 20. The junior, competing in his first outdoor meet since 2017, shaved nearly one second off of his previous best time to better the 15-sprinter field by 0.34 seconds.
WOMEN HOLD TOP-60 MARK IN PRESEASON RANKINGS
With the second-highest preseason ranking in Acadeny history, Air Force's women are ranked No. 54 in the USTFCCCA Preseason Rating Index. The ranking, which is based on marks from returning individuals, is just two spots below the program's best preseason mention (No. 52 in 2018) and marks the third-straight year that the women have entered the outdoor season listed among the nation's top 60 – and just the fourth occurrence since rankings went into effect at the start of the 2008 season.
