Air Force Falls to #17/18 Nevada, 90-79

Scottie surpasses 1,000 career points for the Falcons and Swan adds 21.
USAF ACADEMY, Colo. — Air Force men's basketball (13-16, 8-9) dropped a 90-79 contest to #17/18 Nevada in its home-finale Tuesday late night at Clune Arena. Ryan Swan poured in 21 points and Lavelle Scottie added a double-double as he surpassed 1,000 career points for the Falcons.
A 12-0 run in the second half allowed Nevada to pull away from a close game. The Wolf Pack led by four at 59-55 with 14:37 to play before going on a 12-0 run over the next three minutes to jump ahead 71-55. The Falcons got to a 10 point game with 1:49 to play, but the rally was a little too late in the end.
Nevada shot 52.4 percent from the field and 50 percent from three point range. The Wolf Pack made 13 three's on the night, seven off the bench by Jazz Johnson. Johnson paced four Pack players in double-figures with 27 points, shooting 7 of 10 from long range. Jordan Caroline added a double double with 10 points and 10 rebounds.
The Falcons put up a good fight, shooting 50.9 percent from the field and 48 percent from three-point range.
Swan shot 8 of 13 from the field and 4 of 4 from three point range. The junior added five rebounds. Swan has now tallied 58 points over his last to games after going off for 37 in the previous game against Wyoming.
Scottie scored 13 points and pulled down 10 rebounds for his fourth double-double of the season and second in a row. Scottie nailed a three for his first bucket to surpass 1,000 points. He becomes the 26th Falcon in program history to reach the 1,000 point and just the fourth junior.
AJ Walker scored 18 points and had a team-high four assists. Walker shot 6 of 10 from the field, including 3 of 5 from three-point range.
Chris Joyce was the fourth Falcon in double figures. Joyce scored 11 points, adding four rebounds and three assists.
Air Force stayed close with Nevada in the first half, trailing 45-41 at the break. The Falcons had the game within five points until the big Wolf Pack run.
The Falcons played its third game against a ranked opponent this season.
Air Force closes out the regular season this Saturday, March 9, at Boise State. The game tips at 5 pm MT and will be broadcast by AT&T SportsNet.
