Air Force Falls At Boise State

BOISE, IDAHO — Air Force men's basketball (13-17, 8-10 MW) fell at Boise State, 80-52, in its regular-season and Mountain West finale at Taco Bell Arena. Junior Lavelle Scottie led the Falcons with 10 points.
Boise State (12-19, 7-11 MW) scored early and often, building up to a commanding 45-24 halftime lead. The Broncos started the game by scoring the first six points and led 11-2 just four minutes in.
Scottie led the Falcons with 10 points, all in the first-half. He finished the Mountain West season with 324 points, setting a new program record. His 18.0 ppg in MW play was also a new school record.
Caleb Morris chipped in with nine points, connecting on three of three three-point attempts.
Junior LeSean Brown added a career-high eight points. Brown knocked down a pair of three's as he scored eight consecutive points for the Falcons in the second half. Sophomore Ameka Akaya scored eight points, going 4 of 4 from the free throw line.
Freshman Zach Couper scored his first career points and sophomore James Edwards had a career-high two assists in reserve.
Derrick Alston scored 22 points Zach Haney added a career-high 20 points to lead Boise State. The Broncos shot 50.8 percent from the field and made 12 three's.
The Falcons struggled to hold on to the ball, committing 12 turnovers, which led to 18 Boise State points. Air Force also struggled on the boards, getting out-rebounded 35-22.
Air Force looks to move on from the setback as it turns its focus towards the Armed Forces Reserve Mountain West Basketball Championships, March 13-16, at the Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas, Nev. The Falcons secured the sixth-seed and will take on #11 seed San Jose State on Wednesday, March 13. Tip time for the game will be approximately 5 pm MT.
