
Men's Gymnastics Hits the Road for Two Meets in Two Days

Air Force will compete against Stanford on March 8 and at the ASU Invitational on March 9.
The 13th-ranked Air Force men's gymnastics team heads out on the road for a busy 24-hour stretch over the March 8-9 weekend, traveling to two states for a pair of competitions. The Falcons open the road trip with a dual meet against MPSF foe – and second-ranked – Stanford on Friday, March 8, before traveling to Arizona State to face No. 4 Penn State, No. 9 Navy, No. 14 Arizona State and NorCal United on Saturday, March 9.
MEET INFORMATION, PART I
FRIDAY: The conference dual meet against second-ranked Stanford will take place at 7:00 p.m. (MT) inside Burnham Pavilion on the Stanford campus. Admission is free and the competition will be streamed live on Stanford Stream 3 at pac12.com. SATURDAY: The Arizona State Invitational, which is slated to include fourth-ranked Penn State, ninth-ranked Navy, 14th-ranked Arizona State and the NorCal United club team, will take place at the Sun Devil Fitness Complex on the ASU campus. Admission is $5 for adults and $3 for youth/seniors.
LET'S MEET THE OPPONENTS
Stanford is ranked second in the national standings with a three-score average of 418.500, while Penn State is just two spots back (fourth) with a 409.667 average. Navy is also listed in the top 10 (403.383, ninth), while Arizona State is ranked 14th (393.717) and NorCal United holds a three-score mark of 233.983. This weekend's competition includes three of the top-five squads in the nation on the pommel horse (1. Stanford at 68.260, 2. Penn State at 68.150, 4. Navy at 67.050) and high bar (2. Stanford at 69.350, 3. Penn State at 68.033, 5. Navy at 67.050), as well as two of the top-three teams on the still rings (2. Penn State at 70.050, 3. Stanford at 70.000) and the nation's top team on the parallel bars (Stanford at 70.800). Individually, Stanford's Brody Malone leads the NCAA on the high bar (14.533) and in the all-around (84.283), while Penn State's Stephen Nedoroscik holds the nation's top three-score average on the pommel horse (15.233).

Using the three-score average, Air Force is ranked 13th in the national standings with a mark of 398.067. The Falcons' best event rankings are No. 11 spots on the still rings (67.117) and high bar (65.067), while Lukas Texeira is listed fourth in the NCAA standings on the high bar with a three-score mark of 14.383.

Saturday's competition will mark the third time this season that Air Force has faced Navy (Feb. 9, Feb. 23) and Arizona State (Jan. 12, Jan. 19) – and the second time the Falcons have faced Penn State (Feb. 23).
TEXEIRA NAMED MPSF GYMNAST OF THE WEEK
Following a record-setting performance on the high bar during the Falcons' victory over Army West Point, Lukas Texeira was named the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Gymnast of the Week on March 5. Recording the third-highest high bar score in the nation (14.600), Texeira broke his own Academy record and bettered the rest of the field by 1.650 points.

Lukas Texeira, who also nabbed a weekly MPSF award as a junior, became just the fifth Falcon to earn the conference's weekly honor more than once in a career (Nash Mills, James Okamoto, Greg Stine, Tim Wang).

An Academy-record high bar score of 14.600 from Lukas Texeira helped Air Force secure a 394.250-389.950 victory over Army West Point on March 2. The Falcons, who improved to 2-0 against the Black Knights this year, earned individual event titles from Texeira (high bar), Scott McMurray (pommel horse), Allan Shadan (parallel bars) and Frankie Valentin (still rings).
WHAT'S AHEAD FOR THE FALCONS
Air Force remains on the road next week, when it travels to sixth-ranked Minnesota for a dual meet on March 17.
