11 Baseball Players Named to Spring Academic All-MW Team

The 11 is the second-most in program history
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -- The Air Force Academy baseball team had 11 cadet-athletes earn 2019 Academic All-Mountain West honors, announced by the conference office Monday, July 15. The 11 is the second most in a single season in program history.
To be eligible for selection, student-athletes must have completed at least one academic term at the member institution while maintaining a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or better, and be a starter or significant contributor on their athletic team.
From the baseball team, the 11 players honored were Stevan Fairburn Jr., Colby Brown, Matt Hargreaves, Nic Ready, Daniel Jones, Jake Gilbert, Ethan Nichols, Jonathan Imperial, Luke Chilcutt, Christian Gambale and Gabe Martinez.
Hargreaves earned academic honors for the fourth time in his career, making him just the sixth baseball cadet-athlete to accomplish the feat. Gilbert, Jones, Nichols, and Ready are all three-time honorees, while Brown, Martinez, and Chilcutt are being recognized for the second time. Fairburn Jr, Imperial, and Gambale are all first time honorees.
138 cadet-athletes received MW academic honors during the 2018-19 academic year. The 138 honorees are the most in school history, breaking the mark of 122 in 2015-16.
