Air Force Women’s Tennis Completes Day Two At West Point Invite

Air Force women's tennis completed day two action at the West Point Invite, on Friday at the Malek Tennis Center in West Point, NY. Leading the way was the doubles duo of Sydney Fitch and Abby Warner making the finals of their respective doubles flight.

Fitch and Warner posted wins over Army and Fordham to make to the finals of the B doubles flight. The duo downed Gilbert/DiMaio of Army 6-3 and Li/Quenville of Fordham 6-2.

Sophomore Alex Kuo reached the B singles consolation semifinals with a pair of wins.

In A singles, Ashleigh Harvey earned a consolation win, while Nadeen Lieberman fell in her match.

In B singles, Fitch won her round of 16 match before falling in the quarterfinals.

In C singles, freshman Courtney Smith earned a round of 16 win before falling in the quarterfinals. In D singles, Warner won to advance in the consolation bracket.

In A doubles, Harvey/Lieberman won their first match, before falling in the semifinals.

"Our doubles teams continue to amaze me," head coach Kim Gidley said. "Our newly formed doubles team of Abby and Sydney reached the finals of the B draw, with convincing wins over Army and Fordham. In only two weeks, our teams are making big strides from match to match."

"In flight A doubles, Lieberman and Harvey had a Big 10 win before falling in the semis," Gidley added. With only a few team practices under our belt the team is making huge strides. Our leve of fight and commitment is awesome and I am very pleased with the direction the team is moving."

Final day competition is tomorrow, Sunday.
