Falcons Set to Host 30th Air Force Invitational

The three-day meet begins with the Combined Events on Thursday, Jan. 16.
The track and field team returns to the Academy this week to host the 30th-annual Air Force Invitational. The multi-event athletes open the three-day home meet with the heptathlon and pentathlon on Thursday, Jan. 16, while the rest of the squad takes to the Cadet Field House Indoor Track on Friday (Jan. 17) and Saturday (Jan. 26).
MEET INFORMATION
The annual Invitational, which will be held at the Academy's Cadet Field House for the 30th-straight year, features collegiate teams from Air Force, BYU, Colorado, Colorado State, Northern Colorado, UCCS and Wyoming. A tentative schedule of events is listed below. Admission will be free on Thursday and Friday, while Saturday will be free until 1:00 p.m. – fans arriving after the ticket office opens for the men's basketball game will be required to purchase a basketball general admission ticket for $9. Live results will be available at GoAirForceFalcons.com/TrackFieldResults, while in-meet updates for the Falcons will be available on the team's official Twitter account (@af_tfxc).

Mitch Lipe remains ranked among the NCAA top 10 in the pole vault (17'0¾", ninth), while four others are ranked in the top 30. Maria Mettler is ranked 12th in the 5000-meter run (16:01.36), while Charles Dimnwaobi (60-meter dash: 6.72), Aden Baughman (26th in the 800-meter run: 1:53.94a) and Ari Martinez (29th in the high jump: 5'7¼") are all ranked among the nation's top 30 in their respective events.
MEN LEAD CONFERENCE IN PRESEASON RANKINGS
The Air Force men are listed at No. 57 in the USTFCCCA Preseason Rankings, which were released on Jan. 9. That is the highest national ranking of any men's team in the Mountain West.

The Falcons leave the state of Colorado for the first time this season on Friday, Jan. 24, as they travel to Lubbock, Texas, for the Red Raider Invitational.
