Falcons Return to Action at Potts Invitational

The Jan. 10-11 meet will be held at the Indoor Practice Facility in Boulder.
The Air Force track and field team returns to action this weekend, when it travels to Boulder for the annual Potts Indoor Invitational. The two-day meet, which begins at noon on Friday, January 10, will be held at the CU Indoor Practice Facility.
MEET INFORMATION
The Potts Invitational will be held at Colorado's Indoor Practice Facility, which is located on the east side of Folsom Field. Five field events – weight throw, high jump, pole vault, long jump, triple jump – will be held on Friday, while the shot put and all running events will take place on Saturday (a tentative schedule of events is listed below). Admission for all spectators is listed at $5 for Friday and $8 for Saturday. Colorado's "Clear Bag Policy" will be in effect both days and only water is permitted inside the IPF. The meet will feature Front Range athletes from Air Force, Colorado, Colorado State, Northern Colorado and Wyoming. Live results are scheduled to be available via CUBuffs.com, while Air Force highlights will be posted on the team's official Twitter account (@af_trackfield).

FRIDAY – 12:00 p.m.: Men's Weight Throw, Women's Weight Throw; 12:00 p.m.: Men's High Jump, Women's High Jump; 12:00 p.m.: Women's Pole Vault, Men's Pole Vault; 12:00 p.m.: Women's Long Jump, Men's Long Jump, Women's Triple Jump, Men's Triple Jump; SATURDAY – 11:00 a.m.: Men's Shot Put, Women's Shot Put; 11:00 a.m.: 60-Meter Hurdles (prelim), 60-Meter Dash (prelim), Mile, 60-Meter Hurdles, 400-Meter Dash, 60-Meter Dash, 800-Meter Run, 200-Meter Dash, 3000-Meter Run, 4x400-Meter Relay (men will compete first in all running events)
LOOKING AROUND THE NATION
Three Falcons are ranked among the nation's top 10 following the opening month of the season, while two others are listed in the top 20. Mitch Lipe leads the Air Force contingent with a No. 6 placement in the pole vault (17'0¾"), while Aden Baughman and Charles Dimnwaobi are ranked seventh (800-meter run: 1:53.94a) and eighth (60-meter dash: 6.72), respectively. On the women's side, Maria Mettler is ranked 12th in the 5000-meter run with a time of 16:01.36, while Kelsey Owens is listed 17th in the 500-meter dash (1:16.69).
HOME SWEET HOME
A total of 13 Falcons hail from the state of Colorado, including four from Colorado Springs – Terrell Bradford (Palmer), Maria Mettler (Air Academy), Aaliyah Ricketts (Widefield), Erika Willis (The Classical Academy) – and one from Monument – Drew Lester (Palmer Ridge). The squad's Centennial State roster also includes individuals from Brighton (Cameron Harris), Highlands Ranch (Luke Arkell, Shannon Osoba), Longmont (Ben Bi), Parker (Ryan Johnson, Scott Johnson), Sterling (Jace Pittman) and Superior (Heidi Liles).

The Falcons return to the Academy next week to host the annual Air Force Invitational. The three-day meet, which will be held at the Cadet Field House Indoor Track, begins with the heptathlon and pentathlon on Thursday, Jan. 16.
