Western Colorado Tops Shorthanded Air Force, 77-70

Briana Autrey-Thompson led the Air Force effort with a career-high 26 points
USAF ACADEMY, Colo.– Air Force dropped a 77-70 home contest to Western Colorado University, Wednesday evening in Clune Arena. The Falcons, who suited just seven players for the game, drop to 0-3 on the season while the Mountaineers, who were playing an exhibition, remain at 3-0.
Junior point guard Briana Autrey-Thompson led Air Force with a career-best 26 points, her second time scoring a career-high mark in three games this season. Autrey-Thompson knocked down 69-percent of her shots from the floor (11-16), while also notching a game-high and career-best seven steals on the night. The junior out of Suffolk, Virginia, tallied five assists, four rebounds, and shot perfect from the free-throw line (4-4).
Junior teammate Riley Snyder put up a personal season-high 24 points on the game, knocking down three shots from behind the arc while shooting 35-percent from the field (8-23). Snyder collected a career-high nine rebounds and played a career-high 38:50 minutes on the game. The junior from Fruita, Colorado, shot 83-percent from the free throw line (5-6), and added two steals and a block to her stat line.
Veteran senior Kassady Huffman scored eight points, snagged six rebounds, and denied three shots on the night. Junior guard Cierra Winters put her defensive ability on display with five steals and three defensive rebounds on the game. Winters also dished out a career-high four assists.
Freshman guard Kayla Pilson scored eight points in 31 minutes of action, shooting 50-percent from the field (3-6), and tallying two steals and a board. Junior teammate Audrey Gadison played for 32 minutes, snagging two steals and a rebound on the night. Freshman Jordan Goodwin rounded out the Falcons' scoring with her first collegiate field goal in eight minutes of action.
The Mountaineers had four players score in the double figures, led by Mikaela Parker and Samantha Coleman with 15 points apiece. WCU's Jessie Erickson snagged a game-high 10 rebounds and dished out seven assists.
Next up, Air Force travels to Denver to take on the Pios in the second meeting between the squads this season. Tip-off is slated for noon on Sunday, December 20. The Pioneers (2-3) will host New Mexico State (Dec.15) and Colorado State (Dec. 18), prior to hosting the Falcons on December 20.
