Women’s Basketball Falls at Utah State, 70-66

LOGAN, Utah – A late Utah State rally lifted the Aggies to a 70-66 win over Air Force in the Falcons' Mountain West opener, Thursday afternoon, in Logan, Utah. Air Force drops to 2-4 on the season while USU improved to 3-4 with a 1-1 mark in league action.
The Falcons led the Aggies for 25 minutes of action, building as much as an eight-point lead in the third quarter but lost the momentum in the fourth quarter where they hit just 1-of-12 attempts from the field, allowing Utah State to go on a 19-2 scoring run to assume the lead in the last three minutes of the game. Air Force struggled at the free throw line all game, knocking down just 52-percent of their free throw shots (13-25).
Air Force's Riley Snyder led the Falcons with a game-high 25-point performance, marking her fourth straight 20-point game this season and averaging 20.2 points per game so far this season. Snyder, who scored 22 points in the first half, shot 44-percent from the floor (10-23) and from beyond the three-point line (4-9). The junior out of Fruita, Colorado, dished out three assists and snagged two offensive boards to round out her stat line.
Senior guard Emily Conroe made a significant contribution to the effort, posting her first double-double of the season, 10th of her career, with 13 points and a game-high 10 rebounds. Conroe also added three steals and an assist to her final stats. Senior teammate Kassady Huffman scored five points, snagged seven boards and swatted a pair of shots. She leads Air Force with nine blocks this season.
Juniors Briana Autrey-Thompson, Audrey Gadison and Cierra Winters combined for 11 points. Winters snagged five rebounds and picked off three steals while Gadison grabbed five rebounds and Autrey-Thompson collected four boards and dished out three assists. Freshman scoring leader Kayla Pilson scored eight points with three rebounds and a pair of steals while classmate Dasha Macmillan scored four points with one rebound.
Utah State had three players score in double-figures, led by Faith Brantley's 17 points and eight rebounds.
The Falcons and Aggies will conclude the two-game league series at 2 p.m. on Saturday (Dec. 2), in the Dee Glen Smith Spectrum.
