Air Force Lacrosse Takes on No. 8/6 Virginia in Sunday Contest

THE SERIES
Air Force and Virginia will be meeting for the second time in program history with the Falcons leading the all-time series, 1-0. Air Force overcame Virginia, 7-6, on neutral turf (Peter Barton Lacrosse Stadium, Denver, Colo.) on February 28, 2004.

CAVALIER TIDBITS
• Virginia leads the nation in ground balls with 46 per game. UVA has led the nation in ground balls in six of the last 11 years, including the last three in a row.
• Dox Aitken's career 118 goals are the most in the nation among active midfielders. No other active midfielder has over 100 goals.
• Michael Kraus has at least one point in all 53 of his career games. That streak is tied for the longest active streak in the nation entering the weekend.

LAST WEEKEND
Air Force split the Pioneer Faceoff Classic, hosted by the University of Denver, with a 12-11 overtime loss to Cleveland State (Feb. 22) and an 11-5 win against St. Bonaventure (Feb. 23).
Against the Vikings, the Air Force offense was led by freshman attacker Ethan Grandolfo who registered four goals and an assist on the day for his first collegiate hat trick. Grandolfo led the team with six shots, five on goal. Senior co-team captain Trey Lervick registered his first hat trick of the season, eighth of his career, with a three-goal performance on five shots. Lervick also dished out an assist in the third quarter. Freshman teammate Brandon Dodd took six shots of his own, two of which were on frame, but the effort yielded zero goals. Dodd had a team-high two assists.
Against St. Bonaventure, senior team captain Trey Lervick led from the front with two goals and three assists for a personal season-high five-point showing. Lervick took four shots on the game and scooped up three ground balls. Lervick concluded the Faceoff Classic with five goals and four assists and has scored a goal in four-straight games.
Freshman attacker Ethan Grandolfo netted two goals on five shots while scooping up a game-high five ground balls. He finished the weekend with six goals. Freshman teammate and Air Force assists leader Brandon Dodd, who has an assist in every game this season, notched a goal, a pair of assists and picked up two ground balls against the Bonnies.
