Air Force Falls to Top-Ranked Stanford

The Falcons combined for their second-highest team score of the season on Saturday.
USAF ACADEMY, Colo. – The 16th-ranked Air Force men's gymnastics team tallied their second-highest team total of the season this afternoon (March 7), during a 385.400 outing against top-ranked Stanford (413.100) and four members of the Rocky Mountain Pride club team at the Academy.
Junior Ethan Esval collected the Falcons' best finish of the day, as he scored a season-best tally of 13.900 to finish third on the still rings. Classmate Brandon Bzoskie, who paced the Falcons' on the high bar with a sixth-place score of 12.300, joined Esval among the top half of the field on the still rings with another sixth-place mark of 13.250.
The Falcons accounted for half of the top-six finishers on the pommel horse, as well as three of the top-seven on the parallel bars. Junior Scott McMurray tallied a season-high 13.550 to take fourth on the pommel horse, while classmate Frankie Valentin and Esval finished fifth (season-high 13.500) and sixth (13.100), respectively. Fellow junior Allen Shadan scored a 12.700 to finish fourth on the parallel bars, while sophomore Noah Everett finished fifth with a career-high 12.600 and classmate Nathan Reed tallied a 12.350 to finish seventh.
Reed was also one of two Falcons to finish within the top half of the floor exercise, scoring a season-best 13.350 to finish seventh – one spot behind fellow sophomore Collin Hickey, who registered a team-leading, season-high score of 13.950 to take sixth. Junior team captain rounded out the Falcons' list of scoring leaders, as he placed sixth on the vault with a career-high tally of 14.200.
The Falcons close out the regular season next Saturday (March 14), when they travel to Norman, Okla., to take on the third-ranked Sooners at 1:00 p.m. (CT).
