Andrew Eddington, Brittany McClure and Polina Shchennikova join the Falcons for the 2020-21 campaign
U.S. Air Force Academy, Colo. – Women's gymnastics head coach Jennifer Green welcomes Andrew Eddington and Brittany McClure as assistant coaches for the 2020-21 season, announced Monday. Eddington and McClure will be joined by volunteer assistant coach, Polina Shchennikova.
"I am thrilled to welcome Andrew to our team," exclaimed Green. "He brings a wealth of technical knowledge and 25 years of club coaching experience. He knows what recruits want from a program and has great connections within the gymnastics community. Andrew is a lifelong learner, has a passion for fitness, and brings a fresh perspective and a willingness to do whatever it takes—a true team player."
"I am extremely grateful and excited to join the U.S. Air Force Academy coaching staff," Eddington said. "It is a privilege to coach alongside Jennifer Green whose passion and experience will bring the Falcons to the next level. Common to our core values, integrity and excellence are principles, I too, hold dear. I am honored to become part of a team who have chosen to serve their country first. With faith, kindness, trust and dedication, I am looking forward to supporting our talented team as they reach their athletic potential on the competition floor. Unity and purpose are the soul of this team. I am thrilled to see how high we can rise!"
McClure enters her second season with the Falcons, previously serving as a volunteer assistant coach in 2020.
"I'd like to start by thanking Jennifer Green for this opportunity to continue to be a part of the Falcon gymnastics family," McClure said. "I am so excited to be back for my second season with this amazing team. I am looking forward to having the opportunity to help these cadet athletes continue to grow and accomplish all of their goals. Coach Green and I have the same coaching philosophies and I am thrilled to be working together to bring the Air Force gymnastics team into a new era!"
"Passion, dedication and creativity are things that describe Brittany McClure," coach Green said. "Her energy is contagious and her love for this team is evident in all her actions. The cadet-athletes will continue to thrive under her direction and the excitement she brings. Brittany's coaching background is the complete package with club and collegiate experience. She understands the demands of collegiate gymnastics from all dimensions. I am honored that she is a part of this staff that is committed to developing the total person."
"Our cadet-athletes will also have the privilege to learn from Polina Shchennikova," continued Green. "Her gymnastics career includes being on the USA National Team, winning two Big Ten Team Championships and was an Academic All-Big Ten honoree. She understands what it takes to be competitively great in the classroom and in the gym. Polina has a technical eye for gymnastics and a calming demeanor that will be a huge asset to our cadet-athletes and staff."
"I am very excited to be coming back home to Colorado and joining the Air Force Academy gymnastics team," exclaimed Shchennikova. "I want to say thank you to everyone who was a part of helping me obtain this position. It is a step in the right direction and I am honored to be joining such a prestigious program. I am excited to finally get to meet the team and help develop the program and these future leaders in any way I can!"
