Air Force women’s basketball splits the two-game league series
USAF ACADEMY, Colo. – Air Force dropped a 71-49 contest to Boise State, Friday afternoon, in Clune Arena. After splitting the two-game series with the league's top team, Air Force drops to 3-6, 1-3 MW, while the Broncos improve to 6-1, 3-1 MW.
Junior guard Briana Autrey-Thompson led the Falcons with 19 points while shooting 54-percent from the floor and 100-percent from the free throw line (4-4). Senior teammate Kaelin Immel was the Falcons' other double-figure scorer with 10 points, marking a season-high performance for the native of Beaverton, Oregon. Air Force struggled to get shots to fall for the majority of the game, shooting 31-percent from the floor and 20-percent from deep.
Air Force's scoring leader Riley Snyder had a long day at the office, shooting just 20-percent from the field (3-15), missing all four three-point attempts to finish with six points on the game. Albeit Snyder was unable to get the ball to drop in her favor, she contributed six rebounds, three steals and a pair of assists.
Senior guard Emily Conroe scored five points and picked off four of Air Force's 13 steals on the game while leading the squad with seven rebounds. Kassady Huffman snagged six rebounds and put up five points.
The Falcons struggled with ball management turning the rock over 21 times on the game, eight of which were in the first quarter where Air Force tallied just seven points. The Falcons and Broncos retired from the court with 33 rebounds each, equaling their rebounding totals for the second-straight game.
Boise State had four players score in the double-digits, led by Jade Loville's 18 points on a 50-percent shooting night. Abby Muse led the game with eight rebounds and seven blocks. Mary Kay Naro scored 14 points and had a game-high six assists. The Broncos shot 51-percent on the game, highlighted by a hot first quarter where they shot 58-percent.
Air Force continues Mountain West action next week in Laramie, Wyoming, where they will take on the Cowgirls in a two-game series, January 16 and 18, in Arena Auditorium. Tip-off time has yet to be determined.
