This Week: Air Force (1-1-0) faces No. 11 Denver (2-0-0) in a two-game, non-conference series, Friday-Saturday, Oct. 15-16. The teams play at Cadet Ice Arena Friday night at 7:05 pm and then at Magness Arena in Denver on Saturday at 7:05 pm.

The Fountain of Youth: Air Force is one of the youngest teams in the nation with 18 of the 28 players on the roster being either freshmen or sophomores. The Falcons have just two seniors, goalie Alex Schilling and forward Billy Duma. Air Force has eight juniors, nine sophomores and nine freshmen on the roster. Only four players on the roster have played more than 30 career games and none with more than 60.
About the Pioneers: Denver, ranked 11th in the nation, swept Arizona State in a pair of home games last weekend (8-3 and 4-3). Four Pioneers had four points in the series. Massimo Rizzo leads the team with three goals. Goalie Magnus Chrona started both games and has a 2.69 GAA and a .868 saves percentage. The Pioneers are averaging 48 shots on goal per game. Denver placed fifth in the NCHC last season and was 9-12-1 overall. The Pioneers lost to North Dakota in the NCHC semifinals.
Series vs. Denver: Denver leads the all-time series against the Falcons, 38-4-1. The teams have not played since a 4-1 DU win at the Academy on Oct. 12, 2019. Denver has won four straight in the series. Air Force's last win in the series was a 5-4 overtime victory at Cadet Ice Arena on Oct. 9, 2015. The Falcons are 2-15-1 at Cadet Ice Arena and 2-23 in games played at Denver. At Magness Arena, Air Force 0-12 vs. the Pioneers. Air Force has won two games at Magness Arena, defeating No. 5 Boston College, 2-1, at the 2016 Ice Breaker Tournament and beating Clarkson, 2-1, in the 2010 Denver Cup.
