Air Force will face Army West Point and Navy in New York on Saturday, Feb. 13.
The Air Force men's gymnastics team returns to action this Saturday (Feb. 13), when it travels to West Point, N.Y., for the 2021 All-Academy Championships. The annual meet, which features the Falcons and their service academy counterparts from Army West Point and Navy, will begin at 1:00 p.m. (ET) at the USMA Gross Center.
MEET INFORMATION
The All-Academy Championships will be streamed live on the Army gymnastics Facebook page.
LET'S MEET THE FIELD
It will be the first in-person meet of the year for both Army West Point and Navy, as the two schools started the season with virtual meets. Army West Point, 0-3 on the year, is ranked fifth in the national standings with a three-score average of 367.283, while Navy (0-1), like Air Force, does not have enough meets to qualify for the national (three-score) rankings. One member of the Black Knights' squad is listed among the NCAA top 10, as Matthew Martin is tied for sixth on the pommel horse with a National Qualifying Average of 13.200.
AIR FORCE IN THE RANKINGS
With a two-meet mark of 379.250, Air Force holds the 11th-best average in the nation – and will enter the three-score rankings following this weekend's meet.
LAST TIME OUT ...
Allen Shadan and Garrett Braunton combined to lead the Falcons in four events during a dual meet against top-ranked Oklahoma on Jan. 23. The pair picked up fifth-place finishes on the parallel bars (13.500) and high bar (13.200), respectively, while Shaden equaled his personal-best of 13.30 to tie for sixth on the still rings and Braunton posted a career-high of 14.100 – the 15th-best mark in Academy history – to earn the same placement on the vault.
WHAT'S AHEAD FOR THE FALCONS
Select Falcons head to Indianapolis, Ind., for the Winter Cup Challenge over the Feb 26-28 weekend, while the rest of the team is off from competition until Saturday, March 13, for a conference dual meet at California.
