Falcons Head to Wyoming Power Meet

Air Force will face off against conference teams from CSU and Wyoming on Friday afternoon.
The Air Force track and field team returns to action this Friday (Feb. 5), when several members travel to Laramie, Wyo., to face their conference counterparts from Colorado State and Wyoming at the Power Meet at War Memorial Field House.
MEET INFORMATION
The Wyoming Power Meet is slated to begin at 1:30 p.m. MT (a complete schedule of events is listed below). Any links for live results will be available on the Falcons' schedule page.

Due to COVID restrictions and regulations, spectators will not be allowed.
WHO'S WHO
The Power Meet will feature athletes from Air Force, Colorado State and Wyoming. Air Force leads the trio in the men's USTFCCCA Mountain Region rankings, as the Falcons, Rams and Cowboys are ranked third, fifth and sixth, respectively, in the Mountain Region. The Rams also hold a No. 5 placement in the women's standings and hold a regional advantage over the Falcons (seventh) and Cowgirls (11th).
SCHEDULE OF EVENTS
1:30 p.m.: Women's Pole Vault, followed by Men's Pole Vault; 1:30 p.m.: Women's High Jump, followed by Men's High Jump; 2:00 p.m.: Men's Long Jump, followed by Women's Long Jump, Men's Triple Jump, Women's Triple Jump; 2:00 p.m.: Women's Weight Throw, followed by Men's Weight Throw, Women's Shot Put, Men's Shot Put; 4:00 p.m.: 55-Meter Hurdles (prelim), followed by 400-Meter Dash, 55-Meter Hurdles (final), 55-Meter Dash, 4x400-Meter Relay (women compete first in all running events).
A LOOK AROUND THE NATION
Four Falcons are ranked in the top 40 of the national indoor standings this week, including a pair of vaulters – Mitch Lipe, Greg Skage – that are tied for 21st with matching clearances of 17'0¾". In addition, Cole Lindhorst is ranked 34th in the 800-meter run (1:51.80a), while LaShawn Taylor is listed 35th in the triple jump (49'7¼").
SQUAD GOALS
The debut edition of the 2021 USTFCCCA #EventSquad rankings featured four Air Force event groups listed within the nation's top 20. The men's pole vault debuted at No. 5, while the mile (14th), high jump (15th) and 800-meter run (16th) also combined for top-20 marks. The #EventSquad rankings are determined by using the cumulative season-best marks from a team's top-four athletes on the national descending order list.

The Falcons split up for a pair of meets over the upcoming Feb. 12-13 weekend. Select Falcons will travel to Ames, Iowa, for the annual Iowa State Classic, while the rest of the squad stays in Colorado Springs to compete at the UCCA Invitational.
