Air Force Caps Regular Season With Setback At Colorado State

FORT COLLINS, Colo. - Air Force men's basketball (5-19, 3-17 MW) dropped a 74-44 contest in its regular-season finale at Colorado State (16-4, 13-3 MW) in Mountain West play Monday night at Moby Arena. Senior guard Chris Joyce led the Falcons with 10 points.
In the first half, Air Force kept it close by holding Colorado State to 29 percent shooting from the field. Colorado State was ice cold from three-point range in the opening half, making just two of 18 attempts for an 11.1 percent mark. The Falcons trailed by just three at the half 26-23.
As was the case in the first game, the Rams went inside for its scoring in the second half. Colorado State scored 24 of its 32 points in the paint in the second half to pull away from the Falcons.
Defensively, Air Force held Colorado State to 42 percent shooting from the field and 18 percent from the three point range. It was the third-worst shooting night on the season for the Rams, which came into the game ranked 23rd in the nation in team field goal percentage.
In addition to his 10 points, Joyce led the Falcons with two steals and a blocked shot. The senior was also a perfect 4 of 4 from the free throw line.
Guards Carter Murphy, Joseph Octave and AJ Walker all scored seven points each. Octave led the Falcons six a career-high six rebounds. Murphy was one of five Falcons to make a three.
Forward Nikc Jackson added five points and five rebounds. Guard Camden Vander Zwaag added six points.
Air Force will have the rest of the week off from competition. The Falcons return to action at the 2021 Air Force Reserve Mountain West Men's Basketball Championship, beginning March 10 at Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas, Nev.
