Air Force will face the Aggies at the Wayne Estes Center on March 19-20.
After a weekend off from competition – and a month off from being on the road, the Air Force volleyball team returns to action this Friday (March 19) and Saturday (March 20), when it heads to Logan, Utah, for a two-match series against Utah State at the Wayne Estes Center.
MEET INFORMATION
The March 19 match is slated to start at 5:00 p.m., while the March 20 contest will begin at 1:00 p.m. (MT). Both matches will be streamed live on the Mountain West Network. Live stats will also be available and direct links to both video and stats can be found on the team's schedule page at GoAirForceFalcons.com.
SCOUTING THE AGGIES
Utah State, under the direction of first-year head coach Rob Neilson, is currently 2-7 on the year after splitting a pair of road matches at San Diego State last week (3-0 win on Thursday, 2-3 loss on Friday). As a team, the Aggies are ranked fifth in the conference standings for both opponent hitting (.189) and digs (14.52). Individually, Kalena Vaivai is ranked fourth among league setters with an 8.73 per-set average, while Kristy Frank and Corrinne Larsen hold No. 5 placements in the league for kills (3.53) and blocks (1.12), respectively.
AIR FORCE IN THE CONFERENCE RANKINGS
Highlighted by holding opponents to a league-low .153 hitting percentage, the Falcons are ranked among the top half of the conference standings in three statistical categories. In addition to the No. 1 ranking in opponent hitting, Air Force also listed fifth in kills (12.73 per set) and assists (11.71). Individually, Joi Harvey is listed sixth in hitting (.352) and ninth in blocks (1.03), while Jordan Daniels is ranked fourth in digs (3.950).
AIR FORCE AT .500 ... ONCE MORE
Following a split weekend with Fresno on March 5-6, the Falcons remain at .500 on the year. It is the second-straight year that Air Force has accounted for five wins in the first 10 matches of the conference season – and marks just the second time since joining the Mountain West that Air Force has held a record of at least .500 ten matches into conference play.
WHAT'S ON DECK
Air Force returns to the Academy next week for its final homestand of the delayed 2020 campaign. For the first time this season, the Falcons will face two different opponents in the same weekend, as they host Wyoming on Thursday, March 25, and Boise State on Saturday, March 27.
