Falcons Claim Eight Victories in Home Finale

Two Falcons impacted the program's all-time standings during tonight's regular season finale.
USAF ACADEMY, Colo. – Highlighted by three improvements to the Academy's Top 15 standings, eight first-place finishes and five additional top collegiate marks, the Air Force track and field team wrapped up the regular season this evening with the Air Force Twilight Open, which was held at the Academy's Cadet Outdoor Track and Field Complex.
Sophomore Zac Larrier registered the fifth-fastest 200-meter time in program history during his second collegiate race at that distance, as he posted a time of 21.02 better the field by 0.40 seconds and claim the runaway victory. Classmate Jaret Prete added two feet to his distance in the hammer (193'1") to win that event and move up to eighth on the Academy's all-time standings, while junior Erika Willis registered the top collegiate clearance in the pole vault (12'4½") to debut in 11th on the program standings.
Sophomore Hayden Bullock posted a team-leading distance of 51'5" to win the shot put and earned the top collegiate finish (second overall) in the discus throw after posting a mark of 171'10". Freshman Alexxis Brown (122'6") and junior Nick Oesterling (career-best 204'3") swept the event titles in the javelin throw, while senior Donna Borer recorded a toss of 144'2" to win the discus throw.
The men also accounted for first-place finishes from junior Jake Hall (high jump, 6'8¼"), freshman Nick Scheller (1500-meter run, 3:58.51) and classmate Brian Hubbard (long jump, 22'2¼"), while senior Greg Skage earned the top collegiate finish in the pole vault, as he matched his career best of 17'6½" to equal the 11th-best vault in Academy history and finish second overall.
Freshman Ryan Child clocked a 1500-meter time of 4:02.62 to finish right behind Scheller in the 10-runner event, while senior Mitch Lipe helped Air Force to the top two collegiate clearances in the 15-athlete pole vault after reaching a height of 17'0¾" to place third overall. Freshman John Colizzi, who finished second to Hubbard in the long jump (21'10¾"), also earned a runner-up distance of 46'1½" in the triple jump.
Seniors Aric Kedge and Colin Dwyer finished second (1:53.35) and third (1:54.95), respectively, in the 800-meter run, while junior Wyatt Murphy added a runner-up time of 10.71 – a mark just 0.004 off the lead – in the 100-meter dash.
On the women's side, Brown paced the Falcons to half of the top-six finishes in the javelin, as sophomore Ally Stauffer and junior Kristin Kerrigan finished second (119'10") and third (118'9"), respectively. Junior Aaliyah Ricketts was the top collegiate finisher in the long jump (17'5¼"), as she and sophomore Katie Van Havel finished second and third (17'3½"), respectively, under extremely windy conditions.
Senior Addyson Smith picked up third-place finishes in the shot put (44'4¾") and hammer throw (162'8"), while junior Ari Martinez earned the same placement in the high jump (162'8").
With the regular season complete, the Falcons turn their attention to the championship portion of the outdoor season. Air Force heads to Clovis, Calif., next week (May 13-15) for the 2021 Mountain West Outdoor Track and Field Championships.
