
Layne leads Falcons on Day 2 of GMFI

U.S. AIR FORCE ACADEMY, Colo. – Junior Isaac Layne led the Air Force golf team on the second day of the Gene Miranda Falcon Invitational, Saturday, Sept. 11, at the Academy's Eisenhower Blue Course.
Starting on No. 10, Layne shot a 36 on the front for a 76 on the day. Sophomore Aaron Kuznik shot 77, while freshman Christopher Park and seniors Jonathan Farmer and Luke Trujillo each shot 79.
UC Davis' Thomas Hutchison shot a 62 in round two and leads the tournament with a 14-under 130 over 36 holes. Blake Brothers (Cal State Northridge) and Greg Yellin (UTEP) are at 135 (-9) while Jackson Solem (Denver) is at 136.
UC Davis leads the team competition with a 551 (-25). San Jose State is second (566, -10) followed by Denver (568, -8), Nevada (570, -6) and Wyoming (571, -5). Air Force is 20th at 623.
In the individual competition, played on the Silver Course, San Jose State's Vijay Srinivasian and Colorado's Jack Hughes lead the field at 139 (-5). UNLV's Jack Kozlowski is third at 140 (-4). Air Force senior Colter Baca is at 152, freshman Cameron Kahle is at 153, sophomore Max Heupel is at 154, junior Patrick Erwin and freshman Christopher Ehrenberger are at 156.
The final round is Sunday, Sept. 12, with tee times for the team competition on the Blue Course beginning at 7:30 am. The individual competition on the Silver Course begins at 8:30 am with a shotgun start.
