Golfers travel to Arizona for Loyola Intercollegiate, Feb. 15-17

Four Falcons to compete as individuals in California
THIS WEEK: The Air Force golf team opens the spring season by traveling to Goodyear, Ariz., for the annual Loyola Intercollegiate, Sunday-Tuesday, Feb. 15-17, at Palm Valley Golf Club. Live scoring will be available on Scoreboard by Clippd.
THE LINEUP: The Air Force lineup this week is: 1-Eli Huntington; 2-Brooks Morrell; 3-Eric Liveringhouse; 4-Carson Baker; 5-Ben Zeiler; Ind-Ted Davenport.
THE FORMAT: Golfers will play 18 holes each day in a shotgun start beginning at 7:45 am MT on the par 72, 7,013-yard course. Each team will play five golfers with the top four scores counting toward the team score each day.
INDIVIDUALS AT THE PRESTIGE: Four Falcons will compete as individuals The Prestige Tournament, Monday-Wednesday, Feb. 16-18, at the Terra Lago Golf Club in Indio, Calif. Junior Grant Samuelson, sophomore Jackson Scaletta and freshmen Aaron Baker and Lincoln Blake will compete in the tournament.
ABOUT THE LOYOLA INTERCOLLEGIATE: Nineteen teams and 20 individuals will compete in the tournament. The field includes Loyola Maryland (host), Air Force, Bucknell, Denver, Holy Cross, Idaho, Marshall, Missouri State, North Carolina State, Northern Colorado, Omaha, Penn, Richmond, Seton Hall, SIU-Edwardsville, South Dakota, South Dakota State, UT Martin and Utah Valley.
LAST TIME AT THE LOYOLA: Air Force did not play in the Loyola tournament last season. In the spring of 2024, Air Force shot a season-best 283 on the final day of the Loyola Intercollegiate, at the Palm Valley Golf Club in Goodyear, Ariz. Air Force's three-round score of 861 is the best since the 2017-18 season. The 861 ties as the 13th best score since the Falcons joined a conference in 1999. Eli Huntington, a freshman at the time, led the Falcons on the final day with a career-best 68 (-4). He was the top Falcon over the 54-hole tournament, placing 20th with a 212 (-4). Brooks Morrell shot a career-best 70 on the final day and shot a 218 (+2) over the three-day tournament. Air Force tied for 14th in the tournament at 861 (-3). North Dakota State won the 20-team tournament with a 824 (-40). Loyola Maryland, the host school, and Northern Colorado tied for second at 839 (-25).
LOOKING AT THE FALCONS: Four Falcons played all 15 team rounds in the fall season. Junior Carson Baker leads the team with a 75.53 season stroke average. Junior Eli Huntington is second (76.13), senior Eric Liveringhouse is third (76.40) and senior Brooks Morrell is fourth (76.44). Freshman Ben Zeiler shot the best round by Falcon in the fall, competing as an individual, with a 68 at the Gene Miranda Invitational on the Silver Course. Liveringhouse's 69 in the second round of the Gene Miranda Invitational is the best round in the team competition.
LAST TIME OUT: Senior Ted Davenporst led the Air Force golf team at the inaugural Pearl at Kalauoa Invitational, Nov. 5-6, at the Pearl at Kalauoa Golf Course in 'Aiea, O'ahu. Davenport led the Falcons with a 223 (+7) over the two-day, 54-hole tournament. Carson Baker shot a 224, followed by Brooks Morrell (228), Eli Huntington (230) and Eric Liveringhouse (231). Competing as individuals, Grant Samuelson shot a 225 (+9) and Jackson Scaletta shot a 234. Samuelson placed seventh among the individuals.
UP NEXT: Air Force will compete in the Bandon Dunes Collegiate, March 8-10, at Pacific Dunes Golf Course in Bandon, Oregon.
