Morrell leads Falcons on final day in Arizona

U.S. AIR FORCE ACADEMY, Colo. – Senior Brooks Morrell tied his career best for the second straight day with a two-under-par 70 to lead the Air Force golf team on the final day of the Loyola Intercollegiate, Tuesday, Feb. 17, at Palm Valley Golf Course in Goodyear Ariz.
In the final round, Morrell made five birdies and finished the 54-hole tournament with a 214 (-2) to place 30th of 119 golfers. The 214 is the best 54-hole score of his collegiate career.
In the final round, Air Force shot a 290 (+2), the fourth-best round of the season and third best on the road. Junior Carson Baker shot 72 in the final round, including an eagle on the par-5, 515-yard second hole, reaching the green in two. Freshman Ben Zeiler shot 73 (+1) with three birdies. Junior Eli Huntington and senior Eric Liveringhouse each shot 75. Senior Ted Davenport, competing as an individual, shot 76. Huntington and Davenport each eagled the par-5, 540-yard 11th hole, reaching the green in two.
Huntington finished the tournament at 218 (even), followed by Zeiler at 222 (+6), Liveringhouse at 223 and Baker at 227. Davenport finished at 226 as an individual.
Air Force tied for 15th with an 872 (+8), the best 54-hole team score since the 2024 Loyola Intercollegiate. Richmond won the tournament with an 830 (-34). Loyola Maryland, the host school, was second at 833 (-31) and Denver was third at 837 (-27).
Four Falcons are competing as individuals The Prestige Tournament at the Terra Lago Golf Club in Indio, Calif. Junior Grant Samuelson is the top Falcon at 151 (+7), shooting 77 in the second round. Freshman Aaron Baker is at 161, sophomore Jackson Scaletta is at 168 and freshman Lincoln Blake is at 170. The final round of The Prestige begins at 8:30 am PT on Wednesday, Feb. 18, in Indio, Calif.
The Air Force golf team returns to action at the Bandon Dunes Collegiate, March 8-10, at the Pacific Dunes Golf Course in Bandon, Ore.
