
Falcons shoot best road round in Arizona

U.S. AIR FORCE ACADEMY, Colo. – The Air Force golf team shot its best road round of the season with a 284 (-4) in the second round of the Loyola Intercollegiate, Monday, Feb. 16, at Palm Valley Golf Course in Goodyear, Ariz.
The 284 is the second-best overall round of the year and was the 10th best second round score in the 20-team tournament.
Junior Eli Huntington shot a season-best 69 (-3). Huntington made five birdies on the day, all on the back side for a 31. Senior team captain Brooks Morrell tied his career-best with a 70 (-2), making eight birdies on the day. Senior Eric Liveringhouse shot 72 (even), including an eagle on the par-5, 545-yard ninth hole as he reached the green in two. Freshman Ben Zeiler shot 73, his career-best road round. Junior Carson Baker shot 78, including an eagle on the par-5, 515-yard second hole, reaching the green in two. Senior Ted Davenport, playing as an individual, shot 74 (+2) with five birdies.
Air Force jumped into 14th place with a 582 (+6) after 36 holes. Loyola Maryland, the host school, and Richmond are tied for the tournament lead at 556 (-20) . Denver is third at 558 (-18).
The final round of the Loyola Intercollegiate begins at 7:45 am MT on Tuesday, Feb. 17.
The Prestige: Four Falcons competed as individuals in the first round of The Prestige Tournament, Monday, Feb. 16, at the Terra Lago Golf Club in Indio, Calif. Junior Grant Samuelson is tied for 20th with a two-over 74. Samuelson made two birdies and12 pars. Freshman Aaron Baker shot 81, freshman Lincoln Blake shot 86 and sophomore Jackson Scaletta shot 89. The second round of the tournament begins at 8:30 am PT in Indio, Calif. The first Falcon is on the course at 10:40 am PT.
