This Week: Air Force (5-11-2, 3-7-2 AHA) hosts the Niagara Purple Eagles (6-12-2, 5-5-2 AHA), Friday-Saturday, Jan. 14-15, at the Cadet Ice Arena. The opening faceoff is at 7:05 pm MT each night.

Back to Action: Air Force has played just two games in the last seven weeks entering the Niagara series. Air Force took five points from Canisius, Dec. 3-4, at the Academy and was then off until Jan. 1. AIC swept Air Force, Jan. 1-2, and then the Falcons were off the weekend of Jan. 7-8. Air Force now plays every weekend, home-and away, throughout the remainder of the season.
About the Purple Eagles: Niagara (6-12-2, 5-5-2 AHA) split a two-game conference series at home with Sacred Heart last week, winning, 5-4 in overtime, and then falling in game two, 2-1. Two weeks ago, NU split with No. 10 Notre Dame on the road, winning the first game, 3-1. Albin Nilsson leads the team with 15 points.
Series vs. Niagara: Air Force and Niagara have played 82 times and the Purple Eagles hold a 41-33-8 lead in the series that began in 1996 when both teams were independents. As AHA rivals (since the 2010-11 season), AF has a 22-14-5 lead in the series. From 1999-2000 to 2005-06, both teams were in College Hockey America and played 31 times. Niagara held a 22-6-3 advantage. Of the last 11 games, 10 have been decided by one goal or ended in a tie with five of those games going to overtime.
Earlier this season, Air Force took two points at Niagara. The Purple Eagles won game one, 4-3. Game two ended in a 3-3 overtime tie, but the Falcons won the shootout on Parker Brown's goal. In the last series at the Academy, Air Force swept by scores of 4-3 and 2-1. Air Force leads the series at the Academy, 21-19-1.
