COVID-19 Update
-Current Department of Defense and Air Force Academy policies require all individuals, regardless of vaccination status, to wear a mask when indoors in all Academy facilities, including the press box, Blue and Silver Club, suites, elevators and restrooms. All individuals who have not been fully vaccinated must also wear masks outdoors at all times while on the installation. Fans who are fully vaccinated and are not required to wear a mask when outdoors. Anyone with a COVID-19 diagnosis within the previous 10 days, or any symptoms suggestive of possible COVID-19, or a recent close contact with an individual known to be positive for COVID-19 should not come to the stadium. These policies will be constantly evaluated and any changes will be communicated.
Series History vs. San Diego State
-In 50 games between the two schools, Air Force is 13-37 all-time against the SDSU.
-Over the last 10 matchups, the Falcons are 6-4 against the Aztecs, while having won three of the last five contests at Viejas Arena.
-A season ago, the Falcons split a pair of road games in San Diego, including a 59-54 loss and a 58-55 win.
Last Time Out
-Air Force was dealt a nearly impossible hand on Monday night, as health and safety protocols left the Falcons with only seven available players against Nevada. Key Falcons such as Riley Snyder, Haley Jones, Dasha Macmillan and Lauren McDonald were unavailable, pressing the remainder of the bench into important minutes.
-Even so, Air Force controlled the final possession and look at the rim, as a Cierra Winters layup at the buzzer bounced in and out of the basket, leaving the Falcons on the unfortunate end of a 40-39 score.
-Winters was asked to be the focal point of the offense, and she maintained the role well, scoring a game-high 18 points. Winters was tied with Taylor Britt for the team lead with six rebounds while adding a pair of steals to her end-of-night totals
Hitch a Ride on the Winters Wagon
-Entering the new season with a career 2.9 PPG, Cierra Winters is currently averaging 11.8 PPG.
-Now having scored 224 points this season, she has scored more points in 2021-22 than the previous three seasons combined (183).
-With 18 points on Monday against Nevada, Winters has now recorded 10+ points in 11-consecutive games.
-Currently averaging 3.0 steals per game, the senior currently ranks 10th among all DI players in the statistic, which also leads the MWC.
After SDSU
-Following Thursday's game against San Diego State, Air Force will remain on the road, traveling to UNLV on Saturday, January 29. Tip-off is scheduled for 3:00 pm MT.
