
Women’s Swim and Dive Posts Runner-Up Finish at Intermountain Shootout

GRAND JUNCTION – The women's swim and dive team placed second in a field of eight teams in the 2022-23 season opening Intermountain Shootout, Saturday afternoon at the El Pomar Natatorium on the campus of Colorado Mesa. The Falcons claimed five first-place finishes in the event.

A STELLAR RELAY PERFORMANCE
The Falcons were exceptional in their relay races as they claimed a share of the top-three in each relay event, highlighted by first place finishes in the 200 medley relay and 400 free relay. The Falcons had relay teams place second and third in the 200 free relay, and second in the 400 medley relay.
Kara Gavin, Addie Orris, Raquelle Roesch and Abby Turner claimed first in the 400 free relay (3:31.22), while Kai-Min Tsuei, Kimmy Woolfenden, Corbyn Cormack and Abby Turner took the top spot in the 200 medley relay (1:45.52).
INDIVIDUAL STANDOUTS
Air Force's MVP from last season, Corbyn Cormack, led the Falcons with a pair of first place finishes in the 100 IM (59.03) and 100 fly (56.61).
Freshman Zoe Bresnahan had an exceptional performance, tallying 45 team points for the Falcons with third, fourth and fifth placings in the 1,000 free (10:35.19), the 400 IM (4:35.93), and the 500 free (5:12.32), respectively.
Abby Turner tallied 20 teams points for AF with a top finish in the 100 free (53.01).
Corinne Yorkman and Abigail Hardy posted second-place finishes in the 200 back (2:05.44) and 200 fly (2:07.11), respectively.
Alex Clark (200 fly/2:08.02), and Shayla Markle (100 fly/57.44) each scored 16 team points with third-place finishes.
THE DIVERS
Grace Treanor had the top performance on the dive team, finishing fifth in both the 1M (406.55) and 3M (236.70). Anna Scofield landed among the top-10 in both events, placing seventh in the 1M (279.30) and eighth in the 3M (207.25). Ashlyn Foster placed 10th in the 3M (203.95).

Air Force opens Cadet Natatorium for the first time this season to host Nebraska-Omaha and Colorado-Mines in tri-meet action. Swimming is slated to begin at 6 p.m. on Friday, October 14.
