U.S. AIR FORCE ACADEMY, Colo. – On Thursday, head coach Jennifer Green of the Air Force women's gymnastics team announced the addition of Anique Grenier as assistant coach to the Falcons' program.
Grenier, a two-time Colorado state champion on both bars and beam, initially had retired from competing, and spent the following two years after high school serving as a student-coach while continuing her education at Southern Utah. Her proximity to the Thunderbirds' program, however, reignited her desire to compete:
"I was born and raised in Denver, where I was a level 10 gymnast at Incline Gymnastics and graduated high school in 2018," Grenier said. "I loved being a part of (Southern Utah)- However, I felt like my journey as an athlete wasn't complete. After two years of feeling like I missed out on something I worked so hard for, I started training again. I got all my skills back and transferred to Utah State to pursue my gymnastics career."
Grenier finished out her final two years as a member of the Aggies, where she earned Academic All-Mountain Rim Gymnastics Conference honors, and was part of the program's first-ever MRGC Championship title in 2022. Grenier graduated in 2022 with a bachelor's degree in Public Relations/Journalism.
"I am excited to start my career as a college coach and continue to grow my passion for this sport," Grenier said. "I love coaching at the Air Force Academy and am eager to see what this season holds for us!"
Coach Green on Anique Joining the Falcons:
"Anique brings a fresh perspective to our team. She has a fantastic technical eye and choreography skills. Her demeanor is calm and confident which compliments our staff nicely. Anique's passion for the sport is evident in all she does. She will make an immediate impact on our team in and out of the gym. Anique's main coaching responsibilities are on uneven bars, as well as assisting with choreography, conditioning and social media."
The Falcons host the Blue & Silver Intrasquad on Dec. 3 at the Cadet West Gym; Their 2023 season opens at home, hosting San Jose State on Jan. 16.
