Air Force With MW-Era Record 10 Blocked Shots In 81-53 Rout of UAPB

USAF ACADEMY, Colo. – Air Force men's basketball (5-3) had a historic night for blocked shots, leading to a 81-53 blowout win over Arkansas-Pine Bluff (2-7) Wednesday night at Clune Arena. The 10 blocked shots by the Falcons set a Mountain West-era record and freshman Corbin Green blocked six on his own to tie the school record, leading to the fourth straight win for the team.
Air Force had season high's in several categories, including points scored, field goal shooting (54 percent), three point shooting (45.8 pct) and assists (24).
The 10 blocks broke the previous record of nine set in 2012 and 2010. Green's six swats tied three others for the program record.
Four Falcons reached double-figures in scoring, led by guard Ethan Taylor. Taylor scored 16 points on four three's, adding five rebounds and five assists.
Joining Taylor in double-figures were Green with 15, guard Jake Heidbreder with 11 and guard Jeffrey Mills with 10. Green continued his stat-sheet stuffing ways, adding seven rebounds, three assists and three steals. Heidbreder scored all 11 his points in the second half, cashing in on three three's in the process. Mills added a career-high nine assists and was a perfect 4 of 4 from the field.
Air Force got 22 points off the bench. Forward Rytis Petraitis scored nine points and pulled down seven boards, to go with two blocks. Guard Carter Murphy added eight points and four rebounds, including two blocked shots.
Air Force shot 53.8 percent from the field and from three-point range in the first half to jump out to a commanding 41-23 lead. The Falcons showcased great team ball by assisting on all 14 field goals in the first half.
The Falcons made seven three's in the opening half, while UAPB went an ice-cold 0 for 10 from long range. Taylor scored 15 of his points in the opening half, going 4 for 4 from three.
The Falcons kept things rolling the second half, shooting 54 percent from the field.
The Golden Lions were led by guard Shaun Doss Jr., who scored a game-high 21 points. He was the lone player in double figures for UAPB.
After seven straight at home, the Falcons hit the road of their next game on Saturday, Dec. 3 at Portland State. The game tips at 1 pm PT and will be broadcast on ESPN+.
