Falcon Lacrosse Extends Win Streak with 13-10 victory at Mercer

MACON – Air Force pushed past Mercer, 13-10, to extend to a four-game win streak, Saturday afternoon at Five Star Stadium. The Falcons improve to 4-4 on the season while the Bears drop to 3-6 overall.
Air Force hot shot Brenden Crouse notched six goals on a career-high 18 shots, matching his career best goal performance for the second time this season. Crouse, scoring his fifth hat trick of the season, leads the squad with 30 goals on the 2022 campaign, extending his active goal streak to 12-straight games. Falcon big man Brandon Dodd tacked on a goal and further facilitated the offense with a season-best four assists.
Aidan Tolen and freshman teammate Wes Peene put up two goals apiece, both Falcons marking four-straight games with goals. For the second time this season, the AF offense put up 50 shots on the game.
Air Force's team captains Brian Michael and Quentin Carlile led from the front— Michael, the lead face off man, snagged up a career-best 12 ground balls on the day while winning 14-of-25 attempts at the face off X. Carlile anchored the defense with a season-high five caused turnovers and four ground balls. Carlile has 13 CTs this season. Sophomore defender James Chastain made his presence known with three caused turnovers.
In cage, Jason Rose scooped up a pair of ground balls and caused a turnover while making 11 saves in his fourth-straight win.
Mercer's Matthew Winegardner led the offense with a hat trick on 12 shots. The Bears' keeper Colin Kelley made 13 saves on the day.
Next up, the Falcons wrap up a three-game road stint at Marquette, Saturday, March 26. Action is slated for noon CT at Valley Fields in Milwaukee. Air Force has yet to beat the Golden Eagles, trailing the all-time series 0-2.
