In addition, the distance runners officially open their season on March 31-April 1.
The Air Force track and field team is set for a busy weekend of action, with competitions in two states. Most of the squad kicks off the home portion of the 2022 outdoor season hosting the Front Range Open on Saturday (April 2), while members of the distance team head to California for the Mike Fanelli Track Classic (March 31-April 1) and Stanford Invitational (April 1-2).
MEET INFORMATION | FRONT RANGE CLASSIC
A late addition to the Falcons' schedule – and the program's earliest home meet since 2014, the Front Range Classic will feature athletes from Colorado and Wyoming. Competition will begin at 11:30 a.m. (MT) at the Cadet Outdoor Track and Field Complex. A tentative schedule of events are listed below. The Front Range Classic was an annual event between the schools during the 2008-12 seasons, with each team hosting at least once. Air Force's men won four of the five team titles (2008, 2009, 2011, 2012), while the women finished first in 2012. Colorado State (2010 men; 2008, 2009, 2010 women) and Wyoming (2011 women) rounded out the team title holders.

Twenty-one members of the Falcons' distance squad will officially kick off their outdoor season this weekend at the Mike Fanelli Track Classic (San Francisco – March 31-April 1) and Stanford Invitational (Palo Alto – April 1-2). Both meets will be broadcast live on FloTrack, while live results will be available via Red Cap Timing (Mike Fanelli Track Classic) and Record Timing (Stanford Invitational).
JUST THROWING IT OUT THERE
Backed by impressive performances at the Aztec Invitational on March 25-26, two throwers were honored by the Mountain West on March 29. Jaret Prete was named the Men's Field Athlete of the Week for the second time this season following a career-best outing in the hammer throw, while Joe Nizich was named Freshman of the Week following a conference-leading debut in the javelin.

WHAT'S ON DECK
The Falcons head to Tucson, Ariz., next week (April 7-9) for the annual Jim Click Shootout. The three-day meet begins with the Combined Events on Thursday and Friday, while the rest of the team takes to Roy P. Drachman Stadium on Saturday.
