Air Force Flies by Marist, 17-8

USAF ACADEMY – Air Force concluded a three-game home stint on a high note, routing Marist, 17-8, Saturday afternoon at Falcon Stadium. The Falcons, now on a two-game win streak, improve to 2-4 while Marist drops to 1-4.
Air Force junior Brandon Dodd and senior teammate Brenden Crouse lit the field up, totaling 10 goals and five assists between the two of them. Dodd put up a career-best six goals along with an assist. Crouse, the Falcons' leading scorer this season (21 goals), tallied a game-high eight points via four goals and four assists.
The Falcon youngsters were a problem for the Red Foxes as sophomore Aidan Tolen and freshman Kyle Griffith notched two goals apiece in the effort, marking their sixth and third goals of the season, respectively. Freshmen Wes Peene and Alexander Stepney added a goal apiece to the final tally, and sophomore long-pole defender Chris Bardak launched one in to round out Air Force's scorers.
The Falcon defense anchored by Quentin Carlile, James Chastain, and Chris Bardak, held Marist to just two goals per quarter, causing 5-of-12 turnovers between the three of them. Bardak had a game-high three CTs to his credit.
Jason Rose earned his second win this season with seven saves against 16 shots on goal. He holds a .497 save-percentage and 12.93 goals against average after five starts in cage. Senior team captain Brian Michael took the majority of face off attempts, winning 11-19 while collecting five ground balls. Braden Gaab took nine attempts at the center X, winning four.
The Red Foxes were led by Jake Deacy's three goals and Jojo Pirreca's four points via two goals and two assists. Marist keeper Anthony Novellano made eight saves in the loss.
Next up, The Falcons travel to Smithfield, Rhode Island, to take on the Bryant Bulldogs in the first-ever meeting between the programs. Action is slated for noon ET at Beirne Stadium.
