Early deficit too large to overcome for Falcons in 14-7 loss

RENO, Nev.- Nevada opened Saturday's ballgame with eight unanswered runs, as the large disadvantage on the scoreboard was too tall a hill to climb for Air Force in today's 14-7 loss.
Paul Skenes was the lone Falcons with multiple hits, as he finished 2-2 with a walk and a run scored. Gabriel Garcia extended his hitting streak to 15 games with a solo home run in the 6th inning as part of a 1-5 day. Sam Kulasingam has now reached base in his last 20 games, as the sophomore pulled a two-run single through the left side in the 9th.
As well, Trayden Tamiya was 1-3 with a team-high 3 RBI.
Freshman Sawyer Hawks made his third start of the spring and was credited with the loss. Hawks lasted 2.1 innings, allowing seven runs on six hits, three walks, three strikeouts and a hit batter.
Nevada scored in each of the first seven innings, as Air Force trailed 14-3 after the 8th. A four-run Falcons 9th saw Tamiya line a two-run double into left-center before Kulasingam singled home two runs, but the Nevada offense provided too large a cushion to overcome.
Air Force will look to split the four-game series on Sunday, April 17, with Game Four scheduled for a 2:00 pm MT first-pitch.
