Air Force Falls at Robert Morris, 11-10

MOON TOWNSHIP– Air Force came up short against Robert Morris, 11-10, in ASUN Conference action at Joe Walton Stadium, Saturday afternoon. The Falcons drop to third in the league standings with a 7-6, 2-2 ASUN record as the Colonials secure second place in the conference.
Air Force was aggressive and mean off the starting whistle, putting up three unanswered goals in the first period. RMU gained traction in the second period and made it a dog fight to the end. The Falcons only conceded the lead one time on the game, to the chagrin of Falcon fans, the lead was conceded with just two minutes on the regulation ticker. Air Force had an opportunity to equalize in the waning seconds but came up shy of the tying goal.
Air Force junior Brandon Dodd put up a game-high five goals with three assists, notching his second-straight eight-point game and fifth-straight hat trick performance. Dodd has 44 goals and nine hat tricks this season. Aidan Tolen, Kyle Griffith, Chase Douglas, and Wes Peene tallied a goal apiece to round out the Falcons' scoring effort. Air Force senior Brenden Crouse dished out the first assist of the game, extending to a 17-game point streak while tallying his 49th point of the season.
Robert Morris (7-5, 3-1 ASUN) rallied to a comeback behind Taggart Clark and Jake Bourdeau's connections in the waning minutes of the fourth period. Five Colonials notched two goals apiece.
The Air Force defense pressured RMU into 25 turnovers on the game. The ASUN's leading defender Quentin Carlile forced four turnovers and scooped up four ground balls. Junior teammate Gavin Peene disrupted the Colonials' agenda with a career-high three caused turnovers. In cage, junior goalie Jason Rose fended off the RMU offense with seven saves, four of which were made in the fourth quarter.
Falcon co-team captain Brian Michael won 7-of-15 attempts at the center X but was unable to scoop a ground ball off a face off attempt.
Next up, Air Force returns home to Falcon Stadium to host Bellarmine in the regular season finale on April 30. Face off against the Knights is scheduled for noon MT. Prior to face off, the Falcons will celebrate eight seniors for Senior Day. Cole Grindberg, Brenden Crouse, Caden Wolfson, Brian Michael, Quentin Carlile, Ian Mullins, Christian Marshall and Chase Douglas will be playing their final game as Falcons at Falcon Stadium.
