Oswald, a Colorado native, will serve as an assistant coach for the Falcons' volleyball team.
USAF ACADEMY, Colo. – Air Force volleyball head coach Keith Barnett announced the addition of Brandon Oswald to his coaching staff for the upcoming season. Oswald, a Colorado native and familiar face on the program's summer camp staff for the past six years, began his Academy appointment today (June 21).
"Brandon has worked for everything in his volleyball career, and he's earned this opportunity," Barnett said. "I'm excited to have his influence on our team and for that work ethic to translate in a myriad of areas. I'm grateful to have him join our program, along with his fiancé, Analyse."
Oswald joins the Air Force program after spending the past season as a graduate assistant at Northwest Missouri State, where the team accounted for two AVCA Division II All-Americans and advanced to the NCAA tournament for just the second time in program history – and the first since 2010. During his time with the Bearcats, Oswald assisted in scouting, video analysis and recruiting, while promoting team performance and well-being through on-court skill development and off-court mentoring.
Prior to his stint with the Bearcats, Oswald served as a head coach at Synergy Force Volleyball Club in Roseville, Calif. (2020-21), a technical coach at MVP United in Sioux City, Iowa (2019-20), and an assistant coach at Briar Cliff University during the 2019 season. Oswald, who has worked as a camp coach at both Stanford and Air Force since 2017, began his coaching career in Colorado, with stops at Mountain Vista High School (varsity assistant coach/freshman head coach, 2012), Momentum Volleyball Club (assistant coach, 2012-13) and Rocky Select Volleyball Club (head coach/assistant club director/recruiting coordinator, 2013-17). A member of the MVHS staff that coached at the state tournament, Oswald coached four different teams to appearances at the Junior National Championships (13s at Momentum; 14s, 16s, 17s at Rocky Select).
Oswald is a 2020 graduate of Briar Cliff University, where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in human performance. A team captain for the Chargers, he was a second-team all-conference selection as an opposite (2019) and outside (2020) hitter. A native of Highlands Ranch, Oswald also competed at Ottawa University (honorable mention all-conference middle hitter) and Los Angeles Pierce College (first-team all-conference opposite hitter), helping Ottawa to an appearance at the NAIA National Championship and Pierce to a Western State Conference championship and a spot in the CCCAA playoffs.
