
Central Arkansas Tops Air Force in Road Meeting, 3-1

CONWAY, ARKANSAS – Air Force dropped a 3-1 contest at the University of Central Arkansas in the Bears' home debut, Monday afternoon at Bill Stephens Soccer Complex. The Falcons drop to 0-3-1 on the season while the Bears improved to 1-2-1.
Senior defender Jake Chaffetz notched AF's goal in the 87th minute via assist from senior teammate Nick Bourgeois, becoming the second Falcon to score this season behind Thaddaeus Dewing. Chaffetz, Dewing, Remi Smith and Luke Hill took two shots apiece; Air Force put up 12 shots on the match while the Bears attempted 14—nine on frame.
Senior Jake Angeletti was first to attack with a shot on goal in the second minute of play. Luke Hill followed up moments later with a shot on frame in the sixth minute. The two shots led to Central Arkansas keeper Zach Schawl's two saves of the match.
The Falcons' team captain and linchpin defender London Aghedo and senior teammate Tyler Johnson did not make an appearance in the match. AF senior Wills Burns and teammates Bourgeois and Kobey Stoup clocked over 80 minutes on the day.
UCA notched goals in the 11th, 34th and 54th minutes behind Jerry Gutierrez, Bernard Assibey-Rhule and Richy Lapointe-Guevara, respectively. Sebastian Andreassen facilitated the first and third goal of the game while Gutierrez assisted Assibey-Rhule in the second strike.
In his fourth career start in goal, Falcon goalie John Byszewski made five saves against nine shots on target.
Next up, the Falcons conclude their five-match road stint against 2021 NCAA finalists Washington. The Huskies, ranked eighth in the nation, are undefeated (3-0) headed into a Tuesday evening match against South Florida prior to hosting Air Force next Sunday. Washington bested UCA, 2-1, on August 29 and most recently outscored WAC counterpart Utah Valley, 4-1.
