In the Falcons' home-opening win against Denver on Nov. 6, Keelie O'Hollaren logged 16 points on 4-6 from three-point range; Jayda McNabb, starting in her intercollegiate debut, totaled nine points on the evening and three blocks – one more than any individual Falcon had in 2022-23; Alexis Cortez, in 19 minutes played, logged five points, seven rebounds, two assists and a steal.
At Houston (Nov. 10), McNabb, in her second career start, earned six points, ten rebounds (game-high) and a block in 33 minutes; O'Hollaren logged seven points and four rebounds in 15 minutes.
Five offensive rebounds for McNabb in both of Air Force's first two games and seven versus Regis is a team-best in all three games; McNabb falls in at no. 11 in the nation in the same category.
Last Time/All-Time Versus Army:
In their last meeting, Air Force fell to Army at West Point, 73-62 on Nov. 24, 2021.
Historically, Air Force is 8-13 against Army and 4-5 all-time in Clune Arena; the Falcons are in search of their first victory over Army since 2018 and the first at home since 2005.
Scouting Army:
The Black Knights enter Friday's contest fresh off its first season win, holding on late to take down Farleigh Dickenson, 71-63, at West Point.
A new-look Army unit brings with them eight newcomers, including two transfers (Anna Eng, Fairfield; Soleil Montrose, UTEP).
Junior Trinity Hardy leads Army scoring through three games, averaging 18.0 points a contest, followed by the 2022-23 Patriot League Rookie of the Year Reese Erickson (15.0 ppg). A backcourt led by both Hardy and Erickson is complimented by the addition of freshman forward Kya Smith (12.3 ppg), who leads Army in short-range production and from the free-throw line.
With 11 steals through three games, Hardy leads the Black Knights in the category, currently ranking 22nd nationally; a .667 field goal percentage files in at 32nd.
Last Time Out:
The Falcons, facing off against an experienced and talented Regis squad, went toe-to-toe with the Rangers though three quarters before outpacing its opponent in the late stages of the game on the way to a 78-68 win on Tuesday evening in Clune Arena.
Four Falcons scored in double digits, with Smith leading Air Force scorers at 18-points and 11 rebounds; Perry added 16, going 6-7 from the line; McNabb set an early career-best, earning 15 points on 6-10 from the field and adding eight boards and four steals; Keelie O'Hollaren earned 12, downing two three-pointers on the evening, one proving key to the Falcons' late advance.
It was a 26-point fourth quarter – The Falcons' highest to this point in the season – from a healthy mix of old and new players alike which proved the final difference in Tuesday's outing. With the game tied at 52-all with nine minutes to go in the final frame, sophomore Milahnie Perry's seven points led all fourth-quarter scoring behind a 5-5 showing at the free throw line, accounting for the bulk of an 8-9 (.889) Falcon finish from the stripe. Freshman Alexis Cortez had six in the final quarter, with junior Madison Smith adding five.
Regis, the 2022-23 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference champions, led after the first quarter and trailed Air Force by just a single possession and the end of the third, with Air Force's seven-point lead at the 7:13 mark in the third being the largest held at any point through the contest until the final minutes of regulation.
