ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – Seniors Cameron Harris and Hayden Bullock recorded Air Force Top 10 performances on Saturday, Feb. 11, as members of the track and field program wrapped up competition at the Don Kirby Invitational in Albuquerque.
AIR FORCE TOP 10 MARKSNo. 3 – Cameron Harris, 60-Meter Hurdles (7.79)
No. 9 – Hayden Bullock, Shot Put (57'1")
Harris completed the final of the 60-meter hurdles in a blazing 7.79 to move into third on the program's all-time standings – accounting for the fastest time by an Air Force runner in seven years and becoming just the second Falcon in 19 years to impact the Top 5. With a 0.13 second improvement, Harris finished third in the finals after clocking a 7.94 to place sixth in the 40-competitor qualifying round.
Bullock debuted on the program's Top 10 of the shot put, as he closed out the Falcons' trip to Albuquerque with a personal-best heave of 57'1". The senior, who recorded a (then) best throw of 55'11¾" on his opening throw, recorded his new PR three attempts later, while also surpassing the 57-foot barrier on his fifth throw (57'0¼"). With his 57'1" distance, Bullock finished eighth in the 39-thrower event.
The senior wasn't the only Falcon to impact the program's shot put standings, as freshman Texas Tanner recorded a career-best throw of 53'8½" to move up two spots to No. 20. Junior Brandon Lindner also impacted the Academy's Top 25 on Saturday, as he recorded a personal-best leap of 47'9" to debut at No. 22 on the program's career triple jump rankings.
Sophomore Javin Bostic used a time of 6.78 to post the fastest qualifying time of the 60-meter dash (47 total runners), before running a 6.75 in the semifinals – missing a spot in the final by just 0.01 seconds. Senior Jacob Trach also advanced through the first two round of the 60, tying for seventh in the prelim (6.89) and finishing 22nd in the semifinal (6.87).
In the two longest races of the Falcons' lineup, junior Alex Patton ran a career-best 1:53.54 (1:52.91a) to finish within the top half of the 800-meter field (13th), while freshman Ashton Higgerson posted a mile time of 4:22.67 (4:16.95a) to finish within the top 20 of the 42-runner event (18th).
While their distance teammates continue competition later tonight in Boston, the Falcons return to the Academy next Friday (Feb. 17) to host the Air Force Collegiate Open.
