Sansing stellar in Falcons 10-5 win

Sansing managed just one strikeout, but he was too busy feeding his defense to care. The senior allowed just five hits without a walk, while 13 of his 24 outs came on the ground. Sansing's 8.0 IP are the most by a Falcon starter this season, while resetting his own career-high. Sansing's previous career-high was set earlier this season when the right-hander completed six innings in Air Force's 7-4 win over Michigan State. The win becomes Sansing's second of the season.
The Falcons were unnerved facing the well-accomplished southpaw Ixan Henderson, knocking the Bulldogs starter out of the game after 4.2 innings.
Aerik Joe led the Falcons with singles in four of his five at-bats while driving in a run. The Air Force shortstop also swiped a base in the 7th.
Chase Spencer was 1-4, including a monstrous two-run home run to help build a 4-0 Falcons lead in the 4th. Spencer's home run was measured at 468 feet, having left the bat at 103.0 mph. The long ball was Spencer's first since February 24 and his fourth this spring.
Aaron Reyes was once again a menace at the plate, going 2-4 with a team-best 3 RBI. Reyes tripled home the first two Air Force runs in the 4th before the sophomore picked up another RBI after a two-out infield single in the 7th. Over his last three games, Reyes is 6-12 with four extra-base hits and six RBI.
The baseball is more of a beach ball to Jake Greiving at the moment, as the junior was 2-5 with a double and 2 RBI. Sam Kulasingam was 2-5 as well with a run scored, extending his on-base streak to 26 games.
Blake Covin was 0-2, though he reached base twice as the result of two walks. The senior also stole a base. Jay Thomason and Matt Thompson each provided base-hits. Trayden Tamiya was 0-5, but he made up for it on the defensive end, notching seven assists and making a number of highlight-worthy plays at second base.
After Sansing exited the ballgame prior to the 9th, Zach Peters entered with a 10-2 lead in the final inning. The Bulldogs made things interesting late, as the first four batters the sophomore faced reached base, including back-to-back homers. Duke Benge was called upon to get the final three outs, doing so in order. Benge induced three groundouts to secure the Falcons win.
Air Force and Fresno State will resume the series on Friday, April 7 with first-pitch scheduled for 3:00 pm MT.
