COLORADO SPRINGS- Air Force finished off its first series sweep of Fresno State in program history, as Dylan Rogers recorded a career-best nine strikeouts in the Falcons 4-3 win.
With the ballgame tied 3-3 in the 6th, Sam Kulasingam broke the deadlock with an RBI single into left. The junior was 3-4, having now reached base in 29-consecutive games, and in 32 of 33 games this season.
Trayden Tamiya was 2-4 with a run driven in, as the star second baseman brought home the first run of the game in the Falcons half of the 1st. Aerik Joe walked home a run immediately after Tamiya, giving Air Force a 2-0 lead after the 1st.
Landon Boyd was 1-3 with a sac fly and an RBI, while Chase Spencer, Matt Thompson, and Blake Covin each managed hits.
Rogers was outstanding, tossing 7.0 innings while allowing just six hits and three runs to just one walk. The sophomore's nine strikeouts mark a new career high, as Rogers had recorded eight strikeouts twice over the past two seasons.
Sawyer Hawks finalized the two-inning save, picking up a strikeout while retiring six of the seven batters he faced. Hawks recorded his third save of the spring.
The Falcons move to 8-7 in Mountain West play, sliding into third-place in the conference standings.
Next, Air Force will host St. Thomas for a single game on Monday, April 10. First pitch is scheduled for 1:00 pm MT.
