
Track and Field Hands Out Annual Awards

USAF ACADEMY, Colo. – The Air Force track and field team announced its award winners for the 2023 season this evening (May 21), as director of track & field and cross country Ryan Cole, head track & field coach Scott Steffan and the Falcons' coaching staff recognized seven seniors, 13 underclassmen and two managers for their success and contributions to the program during the end-of-the-year awards presentation at the Cadet Lodge.

Bret Hyde Award for Drive and Determination: Cameron Harris
Callie Calhoun Award for Drive and Determination: Maddie Edwards
Newcomer of the Year | Men: Texas Tanner
Newcomer of the Year | Women: India Jones
Arne Arneson Award for Dedication: Ryan Johnson
Gail Conway Outstanding Performance Award: Halle Hamilton
Alonzo Babers Outstanding Performance Award: Jalan Rivers
Most Improved Award | Men: Javin Bostic
Most Improved Award | Women: Ava Gilliana
Ralph Lindeman Career Achievement Award: Zac Larrier
Laura Piper Ironman Award: Darek Hackett, Gerrit Tamminga

Gen Tad Oelstrom Award for Overall Excellence: Katie Thompson
In addition to the athletes honored, two managers were also recognized, as senior Paulo Martinez-Riviere was named Manager of the Year and freshman John Wacker earned the Creative Content award.
Although the Falcons handed out their annual awards this evening, the 2023 season is far from over. Several Falcons will travel to Sacramento, Calif., later this week for the opening round of the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships and a chance to advance to next month's finals in Austin, Texas.
