COLORADO SPRINGS- Air Force carried a one goal lead deep into Sunday's second-half, though a late Boise State score saw the match finish as a draw.
"We were disappointed not to come away with three points today," said head coach Laura Busby. "I was proud of the grit and determination we showed and thought we controlled the match with our possession."
Mia Otero notched her third goal of the season in the 14th minute, tying her career-high for goals in a season set in 2021. Otero was fed a terrific cross into the box by Cassi Bych, as the junior tidied up with score with a cheeky right-footed goal into the top of the net.
Otero's three goals are now tied with Jordi Ives and Caeli Sherman for the team lead, while Bych's assist becomes her first in 2023. As well, Otero has tallied nine points in nine matches to lead all Air Force players.
With just under nine minutes remaining on the clock, Boise State's consistent offensive pressure eventually paid off, as a set piece resulted in a point-blank chance at goal for the Broncos.
The 1-1 score would carry into the final whistle.
As Coach Busby noted, Air Force did well when it had the ball, accumulating 19 total shots, eight of which were on goal. Boise State was responsible for 14 shots with five on-target attempts.
Ives, Otero, and Kendall Rippley each led the Falcons with two shots on goal.
Sydney Davis stopped four of five shots on goal, including a highlight reel save in the middle of the match.
Next, Air Force will hit the road, traveling to San Diego State on Thursday, September 28. Kickoff is scheduled for 6:00 pm MT.
