ALL-TIME VERSUS THE GRIZ
This marks the ninth matchup between Air Force and Montana. The Falcons hold a losing record of 1-4-2 dating back to 1997. The Griz have outscored AF 13-3. The Falcons' singular 1-0 win came on August 19, 2012.
LAST TIME OUT
Air Force women's soccer (4-1-0) closed its road trip with a 1-0 win over North Texas (2-2-1) on Sunday evening at Norma Knobel Hunt Stadium. For the first time since 2003, the Falcons have opened the season 4-1 and logged their second shutout of 2026.
Maddy Walsh put the Falcons on the board late in the second half with her third goal of the season. Kendall Rippley, Ella Johnson, Chase Borntreger, Nalei Shannon, Ellie McCarron and Sophia Taylor also contributed shots on goal, keeping pressure on the UNT defense.
In net, Trishelle Lopez tied her career high with six saves and anchored the Falcons with a clean sheet.
The first half was a back-and-forth battle, with Air Force taking four shots and UNT tallying six as both teams fought for control.
After the half, the Falcons came out with fight, recording five shots in the first 10 minutes. In the 73rd minute, Jost's shot hit the top of the woodwork and ricocheted into the perfect spot for Walsh to head the ball past the keeper.
To maintain the lead, Lopez made four saves after Walsh's goal, coming up big down the stretch to preserve the shutout.

Junior Maddy Walsh has played an exceptional part in the attacking third of the season so far, earning a career-high seven points through the first five matches, made of a trio of goals and one assist.
In the season opener, she recorded a brace to send the Falcons towards a 4-1 victory over Army while also marking a career-high six shots. Most recently, she scored the gamewinner, a header that bounced off the woodwork, in the 1-0 victory at North Texas.
IN GOAL
Sophomore Sydney Nelms has started three matches against Creighton, Navy, and Texas A&M, totaling 270 minutes on the season. She recorded her first career shutout in Air Force's 4-0 win over Navy, making six saves to earn her second win of the season. Against Creighton, Nelms made eight saves while allowing just one goal, finishing with an .889 save percentage. She allowed a pair of goals against the Aggies, but also made a season-high nine saves.
Trishelle Lopez, also a sophomore, has taken the start in two matches and has compiled eight saves for a .889 save percentage. She allowed one goal against Army, but had a career night in the 1-0 shutout of UNT. Lopez tied her career-best six saves after facing 16 shots.
A LOOK AT MONTANA
Montana holds a record of 2-3 and are 0-2 on the road. They fell in the first three matches of the season to Bucknell (1-0), Seattle (4-0), and #10 Washington (4-0). Most recently, the Griz picked up a pair of wins over Lethbridge (2-0) and MSU Billings (2-1) So far, Elli Lewis leads Montana's offense with two goals for four points. In goal, Avery Heeb holds a 1.59 GAA and made 11 saves but allowed six goals.
