
Will Gavin named AHA Player of the Week

U.S. AIR FORCE ACADEMY, Colo. – Air Force senior Will Gavin was named the Atlantic Hockey Player of the Week as he helped lead the Falcons to a sweep on the road at Bentley, Jan. 5-6.
A left winger from Durham, Conn., Gavin tied the Atlantic Hockey record by scoring three power-play goals in the 7-3 win at Bentley on Saturday, Jan. 6. The hat trick was the second of his career and the first by a Falcon since his hat trick against Colorado College, Oct. 29, 2021. Gavin's goals gave Air Force leads of 2-1, 3-1 and 6-3 in game two at Bentley. He also assisted on Mason McCormick's game-winning goal, giving Gavin his first-career four-point (3-1-4) game.
On the season, Gavin leads the team with 13 goals and nine power-play goals. He leads the conference and is second in the nation in power-play goals. He is second in the conference with 13 goals.
The weekly honor is the fourth of Gavin's career and the eighth earned by a Falcon this season.
Senior defenseman Luke Rowe and junior goalie Guy Blessing both earned honorable mention honors. Rowe had four assists in the Bentley series, including the primary assist on Saturday's game winner. Blessing stopped 46 of 50 shots in the series for a 2.00 GAA and a .920 save percentage.
Air Force (10-11-1, 7-4-1 AHA) returns home to host AIC for a two-game Atlantic Hockey series, Friday-Saturday, Jan. 12-13, at the Cadet Ice Arena.
