The Falcons found themselves in a 2-0 hole after 20 minutes; In the 14th minute, the Aggies opened scoring passing possession off to Bizzy Arevalo at the top of the 18, who found the open space necessary to strike in the top left of the Falcon net. At 20:31, Tess Werts, driving along the left wing, cut inside and appeared to be in search of a cross, but rather took a strike at the left of the Air Force net. Freshman goalkeeper Jenica Opdahl dove for the save, but the ball deflected off her hands and into the net for the 2-0 score. Throughout the first half, Air Force's press frustrated the Aggies and allowed the Falcons to spend the majority of the opening half inside of the attacking third, but they were unable to follow through on their opportunities.
In the second half, the Aggies managed to limit Air Force's possession time, out shooting the Falcons 9-5 and securing third and fourth scores. At 55' Arevalo notched a brace, as Werts moved in from along the left side; Opdahl challenged, but Wertz fed the ball out to Arevalo on the opposite side, who took advantage of an open look to score her second goal of the day and earn a 3-0 lead for the Aggies.
Minutes later, Utah State's Kaylie Chambers drew a penalty kick deep in Air Force territory to force a free kick. Taking the kick, Aggie Rine Yonaha chipped her attempt into the top left of the Falcon net, just beyond the reach of Opdahl.
Four of the five shots logged by Air Force in the match came following the 4-0 score. At 76', sophomore Chase Borntreger took a low shot from outside the 18, forcing Utah State keeper Cora Brendle into a diving block and her attempt proved Brendle's toughest save of the day. In the 82nd minute, senior Falcon Hannah Johnson sent a short free kick from near the midfield line to Raine Komata along the left wing, who took a long shot at the Aggie net. Komata's attempt bounced into the arms of an awaiting Brendle, who ended the day with three saves.
Sophomore Kendall Rippley's two shots were a team high; Borntreger, Komata and junior Caeli Sherman each earned one shot on goal apiece; In the net, Opdahl earned a pair of saves.
